Mats has been a solid player on and off the ice. He does a great job floating in and getting into position. All around solid guy 😊
For some reason this episode got me thining about how you could have the right players but not necessarily in the right combination at a particular time and how powerful that often overlooked little detail can be. Not trying to speak on the Wild specifically but y'all get what I'm saying.
Anyways this was a nice analysis of Mats, Seth. You always articulate things very well. I appreciate the leadership, team first mentality, and experience he brings for such a talented guy. Seems like a good family dude also. Just wish he could produce a bit more because he obviously haves it from watching him.

Zuc maybe a C+ He passes when he should be shooting. Too many giveaways and sucked on Defense about 1/3 of the season,started doing well on backcheck after the Allstar Break.
Zucc is a tough grade……His 3rd season in a row with 60+ points. He scored 63 points in 69 games and had he played a full 82 game season he wouldve reached 70 points. ***BUT*** just like everyone else (Rossi Boldy Ek etc) his numbers were a bit inflated due to having the luxury of playing with #97 for periods of time.
With that being said, I will give Zucc a B-
Mats should be with Hartman and Ohgren on the third line. The chemistry is very good w the coffee cup boys u can’t go wrong w 2 shoot first guys and Zucci. Rossi and Zucci didnt match IMO. Hopefully Heidt bumps up to second w Guentzel as the sniper😂😂

Lizard gets an A- from me. His age & willingness to take a significant pay cut compliments his transition to a 35+ player. He's never been a liability and is still one of the best playmakers in the league. I think he needs to stay on that second line, and I'm glad to see a lot of people suggest the same! Good stuff! (don't get it twisted though, if Yurov was here, Zucc would slide to the 3rd line RW spot, exactly where he belongs on a contending team, with probably Moose or Heidt on LW and Khusey in the middle). I legit can't knock a guy for basically being FORCED into playing above his means, even if he's screaming that he wants the opposite. That much is clear to me.
In addition to my last comment, this has me thinking for trade landing spots for Lizard too…and obviously the NYR is the first on my list. If Billy is able to make a trade like Zucc + Gus Bus for Trochek and their 2026 3rd rounder or a prospect, I'd be so gitty that I'd throw in an extra $500K in cap money just to show my appreciation. Convince me this is bad guys lol
Zuccarello plays on line 2 or 3. It would be interesting to see him play with Khusnutdinov and Ohgren, leading the pack with his vision and leadership. I would give him a C+ since he only had 6 five on five goals. He is a detriment on the PP when he’s on the point but is outstanding asset when he’s playing lower or on the offside. He’s a great teammate, person, and I’m hoping he can stay healthy and put up 20 goals with 30+ assists. Occasionally when the team slides, plop him up with 97 and see if they can create some offense. He still has gas in the tank, just might need a rest a few games off during the 82 grinder to keep him healthy come March.
