Bettman is punching the air as we speak

  2. Wallio_

Another setback? I’m shocked. SHOCKED I say.

This is the type of tweet we come back to in 3 years and say « huh, that was the last tweet this account ever sent ».

  4. SHAWKLAN27

FUCK. YOU. MERUELO – sincerely us Coyotes faithfuls

  5. SonOfZork

Coyotes and Arizonians deserve better than all this.

  6. BlindFramer

Last nail in the coffin. Sucks ass but also doesn’t sound like it’s that shithead Meruelos fault? I dunno I just miss the yotes

  7. Bad_Karma19

Yotes old ownership is doing a fantastic job of taking the BOG and the fans on a never ending ride to nowhere.

I eagley await Don Garber swooping in and giving the people of Phoenix the North American sports equivalent of replacing your Dead dog with a cat, Just like he did with San Diego and St. Louis

(I say this is a follower of MLS)

  9. johannesBrost1337

Almost sounds like Arizona don’t really want to have an NHL team. Can’t be sure though, But that’s the vibe I get.

  10. Majestic-Sector9836

Arizona has basically become that relative that always cancels their plans with you at the last moment

And the coyotes are basically a toxic freeloading relative Who only shows up when they’re in debt and who promises that they’ll change year after year but still always end up finding a way to ruin Thanksgiving.

  11. Majestic-Sector9836

Now where is all the history of the OG Winnipeg Jets going to go once his 5 years are up?

In hindsight Gary should have just taken the whole thing away from him so Ryan can negotiate a separate deal with the new-look Jets to give them their old history back, A-la the Pelicans/hornets situation.

  12. tripod689

You know the statement is complete horse shit as soon as they brought investing in K-12 education in AZ. The rich are actively trying to kill it.

  13. commodore_stab1789

Well, I guess we’re not getting another team in Arizona.

  14. Paladoc

Arizona: We don’t have any words and we know you don’t want to hear them. We understand your anger, your frustration, your sadness. Everything you’re feeling – we get it. This isn’t the ending we imagined, and certainly not the one we wanted. Thank you for being there the entire way. Goodbye.

I wish Meruelo would admit that he isn’t going to get it done in time and sell the name to Utah. Because Utah Coyotes works well.

  16. rune1923

Please don’t give this guy another team. A competent owner is okay but Alex Meruelo seems to fail at literally everything he does when it comes to hockey.

  17. alex_german

The yotes beat the oilers in their last game. If the oilers win the cup this year it’s important to remember they won the cup with a coyote paw on their neck to end the season

  18. Happy-Capital6508

Sounds like some state politicians didn’t get paid off.

  19. Spez_Dispenser

People are carrying water for Meruelo here? Dumbasses haha.

Guy didn’t have all the necessary paperwork in order, and expected to have the auction go through regardless? That’s not how things work.

  20. bschmidt25

Meruelo’s quickly ascending the list of scumbag dickhead owners in any sport.

  21. Bacardio

Location was barely better than Glendale. Still too far on the outskirts of town. Tempe killed the Yotes when they decided they wanted a toxic waste dump instead of an arena.

  22. CallMeTeff

    It’s a never-ending story!!!! 😫

  23. Lionsummer792

why don’t they just give the Coyotes name to Utah and be done the with it. The guy who has it is clearly not going to be ready for Arizona to have an NHL team again and admit that the state will have to settle for the AHL Tucson Roadrunners and college hockey.

  24. Pasco08

I am assuming the state did this because they basically sold the team out from under them?

  25. Fragrant-Health9067

They need to force a sale of the rights to the Salt River Pima/Maricopa Community. The land they have North of the 202 near Tempe Marketplace is ideal for everyone. That community could move their smaller casino to the same plot and add more F&B, entertainment, etc.

  26. DarkKirby14

I can’t trust Meurelo or the Coyotes to make this work if they even do get it done

  27. Canadian__Ninja

Arizona (the state, not the people) really, really, doesn’t want hockey. This sucks.
