Le noir et l’argent sont plus représentatifs des Kings de Los Angeles que tout autre thème, et je suis heureux qu’ils restent les couleurs principales.

Would have preferred a return to the purple and gold.

I agree. I also admit that’s a product of my age.

I remember (vaguely) the 80s forum blue and gold. I thought they were hideous at the time. I’ve since learned that it was probably just poor quality TV picture of the day.

I was the right age when The Trade happened and the new colours were unique and a huge deal at the time. Became a Kings fan basically that day.

I didn’t really follow much ofif anything (school, started a family, etc) 2000-2010-ish, so no attachment to the silver/forum blue either.

I like this direction if not necessarily the new font. Would love to retain thirds with the classic colours like the retros.

True but like….purple and black looked really good, like really really good

  5. heyitsEnricoPallazzo

Black and silver feels like gross Raider shit. It’s cold, and uninspired.

Purple and gold (with some black trim) are colors befitting a King, both historically and figuratively. It also allows us to stand out from a lot of other teams, not just in the league but sports in general

  6. zattk94

Seconded. On a personal note, not having matching colors with any other team in the city is a win, each team is its own thing has their own identity.

And for the forum blue people out there, I would pretty much guarantee there will be plenty of it in the future whether its a new or throwback 3rd, legends night, a Stadium Series, or hell a Winter Classic.

I commented in another thread earlier, I grew up watching Rogie, Butch, Marcel….so Forum Blue and Gold will always be my favorite. Having said that, they’ve been Black and Silver now for longer than they were purple and gold. It still looks odd to me, but it is what it is. I mean, what am I going to do, become a Canadiens fan because they’ve rocked the same CH logo and colors forever? Nope.

It’s ultimately the players and the team. It’s hockey, not a damned fashion show. Whether I like the uniform/color/logo or not doesn’t matter. It’s still Kings hockey.

  8. coolcat_368

The kings wore purple and yellow from 67-88, I would say it’s pretty representative of their history as well. I would like to see the purple and yellow at least added as their 3rd jersey.

  9. DisscoDave

Agreed. But they should have a day of the week where they wear their purple and gold retros and change the logo on the ice to purple and gold.

  10. FakeTreverMoore12

I don’t want to wear purple merch. Black and silver looks way better for casual street wear.

  11. ooglesnoopleboop

Agreed, way more success for the org in black/white/silver. FB and gold are great but stick to one off/third jerseys for those.

  12. Cagekicker52

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again..

Forum blue and gold is the LAKERS’ LEGACY… dynasty after dynasty in those colors..

KINGS’ legacy is black and silver and always will be. Yes, we did forum blue and gold first but the era of the Great One was black and silver and our world championships were in black and silver. We are black and silver.

Sorry to the forum blue and gold crowd, I don’t dislike the scheme really, it’s just not us. It’s a PERFECT RR or alt scheme and nothing more.

  13. Abra_Ka_Daniel

Amen. I don’t need us to be the lakers of hockey. Black and silver forever baby.

  14. Steelclad

Agreed. Would have loved if purple was in there too though, that late 90s/early 2000s look was great and some purple/black/silver combination could have been absolutely awesome!

  15. HockeyBabble

Sit yo $3 dollar Raiders add down before we jump up and make change!

I swear online discourse removed any potential fun out of rebrands and new uniforms.

Kings rebrand: OMG ITS BORING AND NOTHING NEW! WHERE IS THE PURPLE?

Rams rebrand: OMG WHY DONT THEY LOOK LIKE THEY DID IN THE 80s?

Dodgers City Connect alt 1: OMG LOS DODGERS WITH A BLUE UNI HOW UNORIGINAL!

Dodgers City Connect alt 2: OMG WTF IS ALL THIS WEIRD NEW STUFF ON THE JERSEY?

  17. RabidMango

Honestly it’s a cool discussion to have but it’s all subjective. There’s no one right or wrong spittin’ out what their fave gear is. Hell, there are people fighting hard for the Burger King logo which is commonly mentioned as one of the worst jersey’s ever made. I came in with the shield and then the forum blue crown and I squinted my eyes at the home plate logo, but you bet damn well I got my Dustin Brown captain jersey in that era. Love it. If I want to be cynical, I imagine choosing a color scheme is a business decision and it’s easier to sell black than gold or purple. Black goes with everything. I’m mainly sad they’re not having 3rd jerseys coming up ’cause that’s where fans can get their fix if they can pony up the dough.

  18. RabidMango

It’s kinda funny. When I was in elementary school my mom got me Kings jacket and my public school said I wasn’t allowed to wear it because it was gang colors. Turns out they were confused and thought it was a Raiders jacket. But they already committed to the « colors » thing and still said I couldn’t wear it to school. I haven’t thought about it in awhile but I find it pretty repugnant that my mom spent money to keep me warm and because of poli/socio bullshit I had to keep wearing my brother’s hand-me-downs for a winter.

  19. Jaxus91

For the people saying purple and gold are lakers colours you realise the Kings had purple first and the Kings font added the lines to the name to imitate the Lakers.

By using this logo and we’re copying them now (and again). The irony is hilarious

  20. guraqt2t

Respectfully disagree. Yes, it looks clean. But also uninspired. Firmly sets us as “mid” tier among the rest of the league.

Was mid in the 90s, was mid in the 2010s, and will continue to be. Not bad, just mid.

Would have much preferred purple/gold, with a black and silver alternate. To this day, those are some of the most unique and cleanest uniforms the league has seen.

  21. sixty8ight

I don’t mind the black and silver but would like to see something new rather than a rehash of the same old same old.
