>And what is happening with first round draft pick Rutger McGroarty?
So I’m going to be really careful here, Jeff, because there’s a lot of answers I don’t have. His family advisor is not talking, and the Jets are not talking.
But the one thing I can tell you is that I have heard his name has come up in trade discussions.
That the Jets have discussed trading, and other teams have discussed acquiring McGroarty’s rights. Now you’ll remember a few months ago, after the NCAA season, McGroarty announced he was going back to Michigan for his junior year.
And the Jets have his rights for two more years.
And again, I’m not going to guess on anything here. I’m simply going to say I have heard that his name has come up in trade conversations. So we’ll see where all this goes over the next couple of weeks.
He’s a good player and he would be coveted.
>He would. And there is a certain event called the NHL draft on the horizon and the Winnipeg Jets do not have a first round pick in said draft. I just wonder how much spicier action at the sphere got next Friday in Vegas.
We’ll see when we get there. OK, so from Rutger McGroarty, let’s go to the Arizona Coyotes.
If he is available and he’s willing to sign in Buffalo, he’d be a great addition as he has some elements to his game that the Sabres don’t have much of in their prospect pool.

Would not offer much unless GMKA can talk to his people and get assurance that he’s interested in signing an ELC.
Not interested in Vesey 3.0

Wouldn’t really understand this. He is probably available in the same sense Rosen and any other of our prospects are available. Probably a piece to land a whale. I don’t think we’d be in on him

Still not convinced « Rutger McGroarty » is the name of a real person

I’d be interested in a prospect swap, like Kulich or Ostlund for him. As long as I know he’ll sign with us. I’d be willing to throw in a sweetener like a 2nd or Joker too. Pretty sure the Jets may lose a defenseman or two in FA.

He’s a fantastic player. Strong, physical, seems like he has a big personality too (in a good way – he wore the C in the World Juniors this year, and is always goofing around with a smile). In my opinion, he definitely needs to mature a bit (I go to Michigan – I’ve heard first-hand stories of his frat parties), but he’s gonna be a great presence in the league and a great leader. And an A+ name, too! I hope we can swing a move for him.
