I’d be fine with Buium…only if the Canadiens have a plan to find that offensive player through trade or moving up in the draft.
Otherwise it’s set up to be a good defensive team with one reliable line on offense for the future

If Silaev slips and Demidov is picked I would prefer Perekh or Buium, otherwise the best of Demidov/Lindstrom.

Draft Buium, trade Reinbacher, WPG 1st for Kent Johnson and Laine

I’m cool with Buium (although I’m fine with most guys in the range if Demidov is gone), we would need to move one of our better D’s for a high level forward though.

Im honestly still fine with lindstrom i feel like hes gonna silence the doubters

Buium is an excellent, exciting prospect, but if Demidov is available then drafting Buium would, in my opinion, be a colossally risky decision. The Habs are extremely lacking in top-end forward talent. Many people say « Don’t draft for need », but many also say « Build through the draft ». If you’re building through the draft, you should be taking team needs into account.
While we can theoretically address needs through trades, teams will almost never part with high-end young forwards unless there are question marks about their game or character (see most forwards available right now). The Habs have attempted to find top-end forwards through trades and free agency for 30 years now. It hasn’t worked often. Drafting Buium instead of Demidov opens up a very real possibility that we’ll keep saying « if only we could score goals » for a long time.
The Habs can’t keep putting off finding a forward like Demidov forever.

If Demidov is off the board I’d love Buium or Sennecke.
Would also be happy with Lindstrom but his injury is preventing me from being as excited as I am for the other two

Buiums role would be the exact same as Hutson’s. To me it really wouldn’t make sense. You only need one real quarterback dman. dmen usually take longer too so youre pushing your winning window another 3-4 years when suzuki is 30. Draft Demidov, Imo hes nhl ready in 2025-26 and will make an impact right away.

Exactly what we need, another LD.

Interesting fact about Buium – Scouts like Ramage had a lot of good looks at him all year long because he plays with 5th rd 2023 drafted overager Sam Harris(F) at the Univ. of Denver – so it could be he’s the consolation prize if we can’t draft a pure offensive player. Buium will definitely contribute big time to offense, there’s no doubt.

Buium has been my guy since Feb/March.
It’s like last year with Reinbacher. Nobody was talking about him until the last few weeks leading up to the draft. But I had him in the crosshair because of how similar he was to Slafkovsky.
Situation is different now. The similar guy would be Michael Brandsegg-Nygård (top prospect from a small hockey nation). Buium or Demidov are an entirely different philosophy anyway.
The « philosophical draft dilemma » can be spinned many ways. It’s one of those things where people will draw all sorts of conclusions after the pick and then try to come up with parallels with Slaf and Reinbacher.

How is this a debate?
If Demidov is available you pick him no ifs or buts

I am 100% on board for Buium even if Demidov is there.
