You can tell Pete doesn’t do his homework because the oilers PK was league average for entirety of the season yes but under Knoblauch it’s 4th or 5th and was getting better as Brown found his legs. In no way under Knoblauch have they been average in anything because everything improved significantly after Woodcroft. The coaching change mattered for this group so Jackson and Holland should get their accolades.
I disagree with the assertion that this is a FL collapse. This is more of an Oilers resurgence. If you followed the Oilers at all this season, you will realize that they are an EXTREMELY awesome team at rebounding after a series of poor performances. This is the FIFTH time they the Oilers this season have responded to a 3 game losing streak with putting together a 3 game or greater winning streak. This was true of their 8, 16 and 5 game winning streaks this season. I am also a bruins fan, but my first team is Edmonton. To think that this is anything other than a fabulous dominant team exerting their will is inaccurate at best, and glib at worst. Please examine the oilers records first this season, follow their story, and then opine about this situation. FL is the same team that crushed all their opponents on their way to the Oilers. They simply woke up a giant. That's it.
The Oilers have already won me $400 and could get me another $100 by winning the Cup, I predicted they'd do it in 7 in the pre-season but I had them doing it against the Canes. Even though I put money on them I'm still in shock at how well they've shut down other teams, particularly the highly skilled and fast Canucks forwards, I expected high scoring games, back and forth. When the hell did they learn how to play defence? I'm not giving that to Assistant Coach Paul Coffey, he never played defence.

As an Edmontonian and an Oiler fan since 1984, our northern city is truly humbled for the support abroad. I hope my Oil is able to give the sports world a story we can talk about for the next century. Lets Go Oilers!

This guy has no idea what he is talking about. He makes it sound like Florida is so dominant and Edmonton has no chance. Edmonton figured them out, period.
The difference in the 3 Oilers wins was discipline. They were willing to take the hits to make a play and didn't retaliate, whereas the Panthers were intent on making hits resulting in getting out of position and allowing the Oilers to get some breakaways or 2-on-1s.
This guy lost me at paying attention with his point of view around the 6:25 mark when he said the you wouldn’t expect a team like the Oilers to rip off three straight wins….this is a team that after three straight losses in the regular season when on streaks of 8-0, 16-0 and 5-0…….this is the exact team you think of that could pull something like this off……but leave it to American commentators to be terribly uninformed.
Canada vs USA . that's really what it's all about now. There is so much to fight for, the glory is astonishingly high. Edmonton takes it.
