I don’t mind most of the moves, but I simply do not see Marchessault signing here even though Prashanth has been banging that drum for a while now. Leave VGK (limited cap, I know) and don’t sign with another contender but come to Detroit? I just don’t see that happening.
I think bringing Kane back is more likely, and even then, I think there’s a sub 50% chance that happens.

I have no idea why every red wings personality is obsessed with us signing marchessault. Great player but just resign Kane and go after a younger top six piece

I get the thinking for keeping space in 2025 and 2026 but to then say we tie up 12.6M on a 33 year old winger and number 4 D man… that’s tough
I’m very against running it back in net as well
Rather re-sign Kane and Fischer, let Perron walk, and dump Holl keep Maatta then use Berggren to be a sweetener for someone to take back Husso in a move for another goalie
I like the Raymond contract and can see a world where Mo gets a bridge

3 rookies just slipped into the lineup with no talk about it?
I would rather have 4 rookies, resign Kane, then bring in Montour and Reinhart.
No more middle ground.

I generally like what he’s cooking here within the confines of what Yzerman has built thus far but man… 88 million in cap hit for THAT team… There’s genuinely nothing exciting about that roster aside from Larkin/Raymond + Seider/Edvinsson.

Very interesting that Iyer puts Mo on a bridge and Raymond on an 8 year deal. I’ll be shocked if its not the other way around Lucas should be betting on himself to be an annual ppg player and get paid as such.

I’m not mad at it, but I’m not sure Mazur is NHL ready just yet. I mean, I hope so, but we’ll see.

Good review and some good ideas. Highly likely the actual roster ends up much different. Still interesting.

Looking at the plays Mo made in his rookie season I think there’s more offensive upside to his game than people give him credit for. Playing the quiet defensive game is as much coaching as anything else.
