Demidov only has a year left and he’s already said he’s going to play out his contract. The only thing relevant here is that it proves SKA will let its players leave for the NHL eventually.
I feel like this means any worry that any worries that Demidov would never leave Russia should be a bit decreased.
I do wonder if its possible that Demidov can be bought out, knowing that he’s leaving in one year anyway. I’d love for him to spend next year in the AHL with our staff and fellow prospects, etc.
I just hope the Hawks take the best player. They wont be good for a while yet. Just enjoying the ride.

A relevant talking point over this news has been the very noticeable parallels this draft is/can be to what Montreal was faced with last draft. That being:
*Rebuilding team slated to either take the extremely skilled offensive Russian player but chose to take the safe low risk “best RHD of draft” and now regretful of their decision.*
It’s the exact situation the Hawks will be facing in a week. Let’s hope to god that Kyle Davidson sticks to his montra of drafting BPA and runs to the podium to select Demidov.
