With the SCF ending tonight, I figure now is a good time to discuss this. We know Sheary is gone, but does Brisebois have the cojones to pull the plug on Jeannot? Or does he find a way to move one of Cernak or Cirelli?

With Stamkos waiting in the wings on the money to be moved so he can re-sign, I just have a bad feeling we’re going to see some underwhelming moves that might not be enough.

We’ve been eliminated in the first round two years in a row. Shuffling around bottom six players is meaningless unless we are cool just being in playoff contention and never winning another cup. We need to trade a big contract and sign a legitimate talent. Serg, Cernak and Cirelli are all overpaid so I’m cool with any one of them going but Cernak would be first on my list.

I’d like to keep Jeannot. Unlike Sheary, I think Jeannot has value.

The real issue is that the forwards group is still short a quality top-6 winger without Duclair. Dumping Jeannot won’t help that any (won’t probably hurt that either).

So, if JBB can flip Jeannot into a decent top-6 winger, I’m fine with it. If he has to dump Jeannot to keep Stamkos, I’m less fine.

Sergechev isn’t going anywhere and I’d be shocked if Cernak gets traded.

Cernak is solid, but could be on the chopping block. I wouldn’t be surprised with McDaddy back in the lineup. Sergachev should be healthy for next season and is in his prime. Jeannot hasn’t lived up to his contract. It would be smart to move him now, but half the league is still available later. JBB seems to like doubling down on Jeannot, so not sure it’ll happen until near the deadline.
