I hope this lights a huge fire in McDavid. I'd love to see him go full on beast mode, just imagine what that would be like. I don't want to put blame on anyone but I don't know what happened to Draisaitl in these last 7 games. That slump was really out of character for him and it came at the worst possible time. I feel so bad for them both. 😟

This preposterous idea that it was "leadership" on McD's part to NOT come out is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. See the look of disappointment on his mom and dad's faces when they were waiting to take his picture? That tells everything. And if you don't believe it does, then ask yourself this…..would 99 have come out? Damn right he would of. Sakic? Yzerman? Even Crosby and Mario, two guys who were kind of whiners too, would have. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and do what's right for the game. Especially as the greatest player since Crosby. Take one for your pride. Take one for your fans. Take one for the league. Take one for the spirit of the game and sportsmanship and all those kids that look up to you as an example.
People defending him, by your logic it would have been OK for him to skate off and not do the handshake then. If the excuse you're using is that he was "gutted" about losing. Same thing. It's just a nonsense excuse in both situations.
Stop being homers and just admit that it was a bad, immature look for a guy who is kind of whiny and often acts like a baby. He IS the greatest player the NHL has seen since Crosby. And he is those other things too. Both can be true. It's OK to admit it.

As an Oilers fan, disappointing ending, but overall a fantastic story this season and a great cup run. Oilers are set to be unstoppable next year with some fine tuning.
McDavid went straight to OR from the game I wouldn’t say the panthers shut him down as much as his injuries did
