@Canadiens de Montréal

Félicitations, Panthères ! (2024)

  1. Man when Paul Maurice lowered his head with the cup over it, I too felt that weight fall off. What an awesome human moment to witness.

  2. Congratulations to the Florida Panthers for being the 16th team not in existence when the Toronto Maple Leafs last won the Stanley Cup to lift Lord Stanley’s kewpie doll.

  3. 6 years ago you made a video roasting our terrible moves. Near the end you pointed out that there was still hope for this franchise, so proud that we proved you right 💪

  4. The dynasties and perennial powerhouses get all the press, but for me the real championship drama happens when a franchise gets Their One Chance. When the Celtics or Lakers blow it, it means nothing; they'll be back. Same with the college football powerhouses. When you see the Milwaukee Bucks, Saint Louis Blues, Toronto Raptors, or goddam Indianapolis Colts in the title fight, you know it's either triumph NOW or forever hold your peace. Making this singular, miraculous, never-to-be-repeated shot count can save a franchise; failure can doom it to the pits forever. Just look at how much more respect the Chicago Bears get in the press than the Cincinnati Bengals.

    That the Panthers nearly choked it away is a bad look, and no one with any sense thinks this team has any chance of repeating. It could be a very long, bitter dry spell like the Red Wings are experiencing right now. But it doesn't matter. They made their shot count. They're free of the "choker", "failure", and "underachiever" labels forever. No one can ever call the franchise irrelevant again. No one can ever question Florida hockey again.

    On a related note, can we just contract the Atlanta Falcons? Really, it's for the best. This franchise, which will likely never win a Super Bowl, has become the biggest symbol of choking in all American sports, ever, which, considering that the Buffalo freaking Bills still exist, is nothing short of mind-blowing.

  5. I don’t think all that many people in Canada were cheering for the Oilers to win their 6th Stanley Cup. The vast majority for sure would have been cheering for the team that had never won before and whose identity is closer related to many other teams in Canada. I can tell you as a resident of the Western most Province that nearly everyone was cheering for the Panthers to get it.
    Edmonton has been the second most successful Canadian team behind Montreal since entering the NHL. And it’s been 33 years and counting since winning it all. The only Canadian team (that still exists) not to make the finals is Winnipeg and the team with the least finals appearances ahead of them is actually Calgary with 3. Vancouver has made 8 finals (including Millionares who had 5), Edmonton has also made 8, Ottawa with 9, Toronto with 21, and Montreal with a whopping 35.

  6. Born in Greensburg PA and live in Vegas so a Penguin and Knights Fan here… Congratulations to the Florida Panthers on Back-to-Back Stanley Cup Finals and winning this time! I wanted the Reverse Sweep Video but I didn't want Canada to win the Cup, so all is well. 'MERCIA… FUCK YEAH!!

  7. Just goes to show, hockey in the south can be a beautiful thing if you have the right owner. Hate Bettman all you want, but the game blossoming in the American south under his watch might be the best thing to ever happen to the sport, from both a revenue/player salary standpoint and the “growing the game” perspective.

  8. As one man says, “FINISH…THE…Story! For the first time ever in franchise history, the Florida Panthers have finally won their first Stanley Cup Champions. The curse has been broke and they’ll deserve to redemption. Well done!

  9. This Canadian did not want Edmonton bringing the cup to Canada. Congrats Florida!

  10. I heard someone say it very well, they said that the best team doesn’t always win the playoffs, just the team that wins the right games at the right times, Florida accomplished that very well. If Edmonton won a single game of the first three then there’s a different result.

  11. My panthers are finally champions!!
    I been with this team since day 1 in 1993. Through it all.
    2024 Stanley cup champions florida panthers!!!!
