Necas is good but hes gunna ask for 7+ a year and we have to give mercer a deal and Luke one next summer. Not sure what else we would have to add to the pick to get Necas. I figured if we traded the pick it would be for a D man. If i had a choice id rather trade the pick for Ehlers.

  2. HiddenMoney420

Always liked Necas, don’t know why. Maybe cause they call him Marty?

  3. mustachiolong

I mean I don’t hate the concept at all. But it depends on what else goes with the pick. Nico, Jack, Necas, and Haula down the middle sounds reeeaaaallllll nice.

A lot of last minute goals and clutch goals makes me excited at this idea but can we afford him?

I personally want to get rid of our 10th overall so Im game for whatever Fitz can cook up.

  5. Feels weird trading with Carolina. I don’t know

  6. Grimmer026

Can they even trade for him, or just his rights?

I don’t know, they’re supposedly moving him because their RW’s ahead of him are Svechnikov and Jarvis and they don’t see him as a Center and so it’s too expensive to pay what he’s owed.

If the Devils have Timo, Bratt and Mercer at RW and not much future cap room, while still wanting to sign another D-man and bottom 6 forward…. I just don’t get it.

Would be a solid move but I doubt Carolina would trade him to a division rival.

He’s listed as a center on NHL.com but it looks like Carolina played him on the wing mostly. If he’s supposed to be a winger for Jack, a guy like Debrusk might be a better and cheaper option. Can’t imagine he plays 3C while making $6-7 mil but what a center core that would be for us.

Kind of crazy imagining him and Pesce on this team

I like Necas, but he’s an RFA who the Canes seem to be trying to move on from, he’s never cracked 30 goals, and outside of one outlying 71-point season he’s approximately a 40-50 point guy, Is that worth the 10th overall? I dunno, maybe. I wish Capfriendly was still around.

Edit: Just realised it’s still up, I’ll have to look at some comparables.

  11. Don’t love it. Necas, while a solid middle-1st round draft pick, is another one of these obnoxious guys who coaches seethe about behind closed doors because he’s too proud to play on the wing and too lazy to play defense. He’s decent on the PP and Jack also lacks a bit at C, so I get it, but honestly I think our pick alone is worth more than Necas right now. Btw, on top of mediocre adjusted metrics, he also sucks at faceoffs.

  12. specifichero101

Necas would look good here, but too much of the same thing for this roster.

  13. SerPownce

That would be a fleece. Necas ain’t worth a good first rounder and whatever he’d end up getting paid. If we move it for a forward it needs to be better than that

  14. Would be interesting but not sure I love this

  15. imsocooldude

Actually not too excited for something like that unless he signs a very team friendly deal. Palat contract is going to hurt us for a while.

  16. Shadow_of_Yor

I don’t know why they announced a draft watch party when there’s a good chance we trade the pick

  17. Spillz92

I would not hate this (assuming they could sign him long term) as long as it wouldn’t prevent other moves like another D man and more bottom 6 help. I am not sure if it’s possible to accomplish all of that

  18. heheyousaidduty

At first I was kind of into this idea, but after seeing how bad his faceoff numbers were, I’m not as sure.

  19. SoothsayerSurveyor

If Necas at $7 million is going to mung up the roster, why not be talking about Guentzel at $9.5 million on the left side?

  20. ScrewOff_

Not a fan. Necas is too streaky and had 1 really good year. Not even that physical so that excuse cant be made.

  21. sapphires_and_snark

Doubt, but he’d be sick on Jack’s wing

  22. Dawson Mercer: 22yo, 246 GP, 64 G, 67 A, 131 P, 0.51 PPG, -29 +/-

    Martin Necas: 25yo, 362 GP, 97 G, 146 A, 243 P, 0.67 PPG, +20 +/-

I really don’t know why we’d want Necas when Mercer’s ceiling feels similar. Unless we’re moving Mercer for a D-Man?

  23. SubElitePerformance

If we’re going for a player like this I’d rather go after Skinner
