@Canucks de Vancouver

FWIW, anytime Friedman says “we’ll see where that goes” something always happens within an hour lol

    MacIntyre also [tweeted](https://x.com/imacsportsnet/status/1806188972533530712?s=46&t=7fabqgtgp69dNA1d51vxFw):
    > Asked GM Patrik Allvin tonight if saving $4M on Mikeyev makes it more likely Canucks re-sign their own UFAs: « It’s hard to say until you get to the finish line. We’ll see what happens next but hopefully we can get more done. There’s ongoing conversations with guys. »

can’t wait for allvin to jedi mind trick joshua into signing for like 2.5 million per year

  3. veni_vidi_vici47

Whether Joshua is what they spend the money on or not, it never made sense to keep Mikheyev for more than Joshua will likely cost given the massive difference in contribution from the two players.

This is nice but if we cleared that space just to extend zaddy, joshua, and myers are we really getting better as a team? We need a big fish

  5. NerdPunch

Noooo I want them to sign Riley Tufte! He could be the next Joshua! /s

It’s gonna depend on his ask. After the Blueger signing being cheaper than expected and the Mikheyev trade, I’m comfortable signing him if it’s close to 3M. We gotta run back that third line if it’s realistic, and that still gives us room for an elite winger for Petey (or two solid wingers) plus Myers and another top 4 D.

But if he starts pushing for like 4M we’re gonna have to go bargain bin shopping and find ourselves another Joshua

Man it was a little alarming seeing Ken Holland’s head as the thumbnail for a Friedman post about Vancouver.

  8. Nomad_0024

I like Joshua but it’s gonna be an overpay for a career year. Let’s stay away from that.

  9. YouCanFucough

“We will see where this takes us” usually means shit is going down. He could sign tomorrow

  10. julesieee

I want Dak to sign so Garly can have his bestie back 🥹

Now this is how you tell your employee how much you want them. Canucks laying out the red carpet to reunite the 3rd line!

  12. Joshua is interesting to me. If we can get him at a reasonable cap hit (anything under $3.5M would be just peachy), then he’s probably worth that. I’m not sure what the plan is for him if he stays. Will the 3st line be re-united? Or will they opt to put Joshua or Garland in the top-6 to fill holes there? We need at least one, preferably two solid pieces who can play with Miller or Pettersson, so I’m not sure the Canucks want to allocate $3M+ for Joshua considering they could just try and find another Joshua who comes in at millions cheaper

You need players like Joshua in the playoffs.

  14. Fingers crossed they can find a way to keep him.

  15. brianevans88

Dakota needs to come in at a lower # than his agent is gonna want.
Listen, the playoffs, he was really good for 2 games.
They were each the first of each series. Each game after he was less effective and had a tough time keeping Up to the speed of the game.
Hes a good player and I love him with garland but at the price and term he’s probably gonna want. He seems like a massive risk to live up to that new contract.

  16. If they can’t keep Joshua, Danton Heinen is a reasonable replacement. He’s been underpaid the last few years as well though.

  17. WhenInAaronRome

Minimum salary is 775k, and we lost a roster player, so we really created 3.2 mil in space.

It’s nice that it’s over two years though!

If its a choice between Dakota and big Z I hope its big Z, both would be great. most think Dakota’s market price will too rich for the Canucks

  19. Hour_Eye_9762

Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing the Next Dakota Joshua: Dakota Joshua!

  20. BrodyCanuck

Everyone is over valuing Joshua. Please do not over pay an unproven player, he’s had one decent year of ups and downs

  21. Disastrous-Print9891

Can’t disappoint Women on bumble in the city! Must sign Joshua as he must be enjoying his swipes!

  22. GovernmentKlutzy712

I’m probably in the minority but I’d rather the Canucks extend Joshua over Zadorov. He is physical, scores and also has unique chemistry with Garland which hasn’t really happened with other players.

Prior to the playoffs, Z was not that great. Paying 5 million plus for a 4/5d doesn’t seem like the best way to go no matter how good his interview quotes are
