It’s definitely bizarre that Sauros took so little but I don’t think Igor will let that affect him

He’s not as good as Igor, but he’s close, and only 8 months older. It would be amazing to somehow get Igor for under 10 a year.

I’d hope it knocks his price down a million or two. Give me an 8×8. 8×9 the worst

  4. Tommybrady20

No. Saros got screwed by bad timing to have his worst year in years.

Plus Igor has the recent playoff track record of sniffing .940 and being an animal when it matters most.

If Igor hit the open market, he’d get 11+, so he’s probably gonna get 10 to stay here.

Igor is at least 2+ million more than Saros

What one of the worst playoff goalies gets paid shouldn’t negatively impact what the best playoff goalie makes.

  7. Is Saros, a good goalie no doubt, a comparable for Igor?

    I’d say no.

  8. TeadyHopper

No, but a man can dream it starts with a 10 and not an 11 now.

  9. Shesterkin’s camp will argue he’s significantly better than Saros based on the Vezina win, overall regular season performance, and consistently dominant playoff performance. Saros also took a paycut because he wanted to stay with the team and they had Askarov next in the line. Rangers have no answer behind Shesterkin apart from an aging Quick. Shesterkin also seems like he has no problem looking for a different team to pay him.

That’s a great deal for the Preds.

As for Igor, who knows. But with Hellebuyck, Vasi, and Sorokin all less than $10m as well I feel like if Igor signs for more than $10m we’re at a disadvantage

  11. It definitely doesn’t help Igor’s cause to become the highest paid goalie in history. It makes $9.5-10M seem more likely on a max contract.

It should and if he wants to be greedy he should be traded. Every year we see “good enough” but not great goalies succeeding in the playoffs. It’s because it’s more important to spend that money crafting a well-rounded elite skater group.

No income tax in Tennessee. And he’s a worse goalie.

  14. FinnsterBaby

It better. There is no way to win when your goalie duo is making more than 12M. 8Yrs/8.5M is good enough. If not, then go 4 yrs at 9M and let Igor walk afterwards and get another payday somewhere else.

  15. roscomikotrain

    I hope so.

Igor is elite but having $ to field a team around him is important too

I think Igor gives a discount to us and lets us do something like 9.5×7

  17. Helpful_Project_8436

Trade Igor if he wants anything more than 8.5
