The Detroit thing got really old……..he said he had never changed coaches during the year , I said “ this is Edmonton , very different in Canada “ that proved correct as he did , two coaching changes , during the year ,, so I h for his Detroit nonsense…..lol

Ken Holland is a Money Ball example of the "Halo" effect. In short, his experience and gratificaction was under the Little Caesars empire in Detroit. He was a goalie in the NHL and his first professional mgmt. position was as a Goalie Coach with the Red Wings. Did he make it as a GM for 4 Stanely Cups? Yes, but again, it was a Halo affect for him in Detroit. The hard work was already done by his predecessors. Overall he was a failure for the Oilers and has essentially handcuffed the Oilers from getting a Stanely Cup. Ken, it's time to hang up your goalie skates.
Glen Sather was the best coach and GM the Oilers have ever had. Paul Coffey became something of a Prima Donna, Sather had to get rid of him and the Oilers didn't miss a step. Was forced to lose Gretzky and the Oilers still managed to win another Cup without Gretzky or Coffey. Managing a team full of superstars with big egos is not the dream job everyone thinks it is. And Sather was famous for second chancing players like Ken Linseman, Peter Klima, and Bernie Nichols. Certainly the best built offensive hockey team of all-time, regardless of era.
Ken said it himself he was not gonna resign in his last year of his contract
Holland in the running to be the most overrated GMs in the modern era.
Kane signing was terrible v
