It’s something. 6 goals and 21 points in this first full season with Washington last year. 4th liner. Probably a Girgensons replacement. Not sure how much I like trading a 2nd for a 5th rounder in 2016 but shrug.

The thought of trading for a player like Beck (for a 4th or 5th or later is a fine concept) and the thought of trading a 2nd (for a much better player than Beck) is fine and Buffalo needs that. But wow that is expensive and doesn’t really move the needle much

Right now using picks for players that can fill holes NOW makes more sense than adding more prospects that might be helpful in 3-4 years. Even if you are overpaying a little.
I checked out the Caps sub bc I admittedly know nothing about this guy. They all seem to understand it was a good deal but they’re mostly disappointed to see him go. There are a lot of comments about his hustle and care level. I wish this was a third considering the Caps got Mangiapane for an even later second but he sounds like a piece we’ve needed.
