Good pick. So far we overdrafted a guy whose ceiling is probably Laughton instead of a guy whose ceiling is Adam Fox, and a then a slow guy in the second.

Needs a few years to add meat, but what do you know: 6’4″ RHD from the Q, not even 18 yet.

Like this pick. Big with a lot of tools. Young for this draft too.

Much like Luchanko, Gill is another August birthday who broke out and was a late riser with a lot of good physical tools. Certainly feels like the Flyers have identified this as an archetype where you can hit above expected value on the pick. We’ll see if it works out.

I think that in addition to demonstrable athleticism via the combines, which u/NowFook has pointed out, another facet of the Flyers MO is to try to find younger (later birth months) in the draft class, whose stats might not yet reflect exceptional results, and bet on qualitatively observed skills that have a lot of upside. Luchanko fits this profile, and now Gill.
I’ll give the Flyers credit on the approach. It seems sensible. If you’re not going to have access to top 5 or even top 10 talent consistently, you’ve got to try and unearth high-end talent that maybe others don’t see yet and/or place more bets on these types of players (law of averages) to try and get impactful players in your lineup.

What was the trade?
2nd for 3rds. No big deal really.
Did you hear that he’s the first player on this draft taken from the Q? What the fuck happened to that league?
