  1. It sound like Leafs plan is strictly free agents …. forget about building through the draft then adding pieces. So sad.

  2. One reason the leafs are boring is because they haven't had any useful prospects for the last 5 yrs to hope for. Knies kinda. But imagine a 6-8 pack of knies types having been injected into the team. Been just boring scrap heap players

  3. 8:31. Yes you are an idiot if you think the Leafs should trade Marner and lose the trade. F that. Only trade the player if you WIN the trade. You aren’t making your team better with expensive FA signings. This is simply making your team worse. If you want to do the Taylor Hall trade that EDM did years ago, Joe Thornton to SJ trade, or any of the bad star trades you can pick from (read the Toronto trade history, lots of those franchise sinkers) that is simply dumb. You trade Marner for young talent with upside and low cap hit. That’s how you win a trade. If you aren’t doing that, sorry not interested. A top 15 player? You trade to win the trade. That’s what winning organizations do. Loser franchises trade because fanbase is emotional and just wants a player gone. Don’t be a moron.

You only trade Marner if you win the trade. Period. End of story. I am done with Toronto trading talent and getting worse.

  4. This offseason is going show the capability of Treliving as a GM, and let see how it goes. I hope the Leafs won't repeat neither the internal improvement approach that Jays failed upon, nor the procrastinating non-directional approach of the Raptors.

  5. Treliving has his hands full and his hands tied. I don't expect big changes. Ideally they land a big fish on defense and get some smart pick ups for depth to fill out the top 9.

  6. James Mirtle: In his own words : "I don't think…I don't think…I don't think" …Elite??? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
There are none so blind as those who will not see. Rielly IS the problem…lazy, sloppy, entitled.
    No Marner. No playoffs.
And to think that after the dung pile Treliving left in Calgary, that he is the guy to right this floundering ship?

  7. Jake DeBrusk is just over half a ppg for his career. He isn't physical and the bruins have mentioned trading him multiple times. He disappears for stretches. Just because he is a leaf killer in the playoffs doesn't mean he is a good player.

  8. Ride out 2024/2025, re-sign Martin Jones to work with Woll & use Hildeby as your #3, ride Marner & Tavares out for the year, bring up Minten, Cowan & Webber for 9 games to test their resolve, fill the gaps with a few decent players & have some RFA's play for 3 year contracts under $2 Mil each & be ready for some major development in your roster with BIG money in 2025. Domi & Bertuzzi can walk if they don't accept under $4 & $5 Mil, but I wouldn't take them for any more than 3 years. Next season will have some good options available & Tre can trade up as well. This also allows Woll to mentor under Jones & test his health to see if he can play 50 games in a season. The other thing that can work is keeping the salary under $85 Mil so they can bring in some big trade deadline names should they be in a good playoff spot.

  9. I had to stop listening because these two media / Podcasters really think the leafs won't have a dance partner unless they take a haircut on a deal involving a 100 point playmaker franchise player? This is why the rest of the NHL laughs at the leafs and it's fans who think this to be true lol

  10. if you traded marner to a cap flexible team that could take him at 0% retained but the return is actually awful, 2 6th rounds picks.. but all his money is off the books and gets to go to one of the shiny UFA this year, do you take it? I genuinely would, idk what reinharts number is, he is probably too much, Guentzel probably wants a bag, you could maybe turn marners contract into a mantha AND Teravainen, like there are options this year, punt this guy into the sun, trade him for beans, take a fax machine who cares

  11. The media is missing the net on this one. This narrative of Marner being a problem for the team is out to lunch. There is no Marner situation! The team is not a mess. Money is not an issue. The Leafs love Marner and he loves the Leafs. He will be extend. The media is too reactionary and too arrogant. It thinks it’s smarter than the ppl that run the Leafs. News Flash. Media speculation is needlessly malicious.

  12. Jordan Kyrou didn’t mesh with Berube who would think that Marner is any different…softness doesn’t jive with Berube

  13. Why would Marner approve a trade that has a team giving away a key piece? If he is being forced out, he controls what comes back for him and he can say no.
