Can someone ELI5 why they drafted so many goalies? I understand that they might become good but the same is true for skaters, and goalies usually take longer to develop which seems like a problem for a team currently in their cup window. Is the plan to use them as trade bait or what?

I’ll give them a C
At least the 3 Gs all have different nets and will be starters.. but it’s still 3 Gs. Hopefully Nabokov can help sooner than later too
From there we drafted a lot Cs too. While I’m not crazy about any of them, at least they’re valuable positions
We got another dude named Ivan so that’s a huge win for us

Definitely drafted for current and future needs. Seems like a strong restock of the cupboards. I love Ross and maybe he can redo his contract a bit to resign Drouin and have some breathing space. I wish Nuke and Landy would do something similar as the Avs have had tons of patience and done right by then the last couple years.

I am interested in following Nabokov’s season as he is 21 and should be closer to NHL ready than the rest of the picks. It is weird seeing the Avalanche pick so many players

3 goalies is interesting but I suppose you can’t have enough and they make good trade bait. Multiple people surprised Christian Humphreys fell so far so maybe a steal there.

Drafting goaltenders: « the box, the box! » of picks
I don’t blame them in this weak ’06 wave.
Question: are Ilya Nabokov and Louka Cloutier the sons of Evgeni Nabokov and Dan Cloutier?
are any forwards listed as wings or do they all claim to be centers?
FYI, good chance none of these people ever play any real time with Avs:
