The Sabres should legitimately offer Stamkos $13million for one year

  2. Hopefully they got a moved lined up with it. That could be a big upgrade if they can find someone with even an ounce of defense in their game to replace him with.

  3. YoungTroubadour

Probably the right move but they could never make me hate you Jeff.

Go measure your career on goals.

  4. xBialyOrzel

Well that opens up a lot of money. 3C, Top 6 Winger, and 2RD still a point of necessity

I literally said on one of our « GM for a Day » fantasy threads that I’d spend the whole day trying to move Jeff Skinner. But a buyout would have been at the bottom of my list by a country mile. It’s going to be all the more frustrating if we spend nowhere near the cap this year.

On the other hand, we have the opportunity to be a U30 NHL team which I find hilarious.

  6. StartButtonPress

The Sabres would 100% win a U30 tournament.

I know his personality made him liked by most, but I couldn’t imagine having a teammate that turns the puck over and shows zero effort to get back and play in his own end, and then is the team’s main social media star. Definitely not who I want around all the youth in the organization. At least my opinion from the outside.

Whatever gets him out the door works for me.

  8. OpabiniaGlasses

Really hope he kicks ass wherever he goes. He’s been scapegoated his whole career for the failure of the teams around him when other all offense, no defense players thrive and are valuable on non idiotic teams.

  9. GoddessBaker410

Obviously the right thing to do, but damn I’m gonna miss his shenanigans and goal songs. Only wish he could have had another wicked awesome season. It’s okay to blame Krueger still? lol.

  10. canofcorn999

Does anyone have video of him not giving a shit on defense?

  11. canofcorn999

Humbling week for GMKA. First real taste of the Buffalo handicap

I’m not fully onboard with this move, but of course I understand why some people want it.

To me it seems misguided. Since the deadline he’s removed two of our best producers and so far he’s replaced them with a defensemen and a grinder.

Obviously we need our young kids to step up and fill the scoring void, but I don’t think Adams and I share the same idea for how to build the team.

  13. aaaaaliyah

Good move, can’t bring him back after all the speculation. Gives other players a shot.

  14. suppaman19

Stupid. Looking at the team last year, with not much changing, they are not contending even if they sneak into the playoffs. He’s not great, but he’s better than last year, the whole team struggled so I wouldn’t single him out.

Just eat one more season, then trade him with a cap retainer for the last two years. They’d get something and you wouldn’t have a lingering wasted cap hit for half a decade.

Now, to varying cap hits, we have his contract (cap hit) lingering for 6 more years.

Terrible asset management. 100% because Adams is a terrible GM and Ruff would hate him almost as much as Krueger.

i like Skinner just fine but have gone so long without seeing playoff hockey in my hometown that i am willing to give literally anything a chance. if Adams signed Air Bud to replace Skinner i’d be like « well i’ve never seen a dog play hockey but it’s something we haven’t tried yet, who knows… »

to me Adams and Lindy can basically do anything they want with this roster between now and September and i’ll be willing to give it a chance…ultimately the W/L columns in October and beyond will be the judge of it all

  16. SayNoToAids

Okay, so we have to be players now in free agency. It makes zero sense to buy him out and not spend to the cap.

I am expecting to see a lot of 1 and 2 year deals.

  17. imightbethewalrus3

But he’s still going to host Between Two Stalls for us, right?

    …right?

  18. buffaloprocess

Wherever he lands, bet all your cup odds on them

  19. werealldeadramones

But…. the steamed hams….. WONT SOMEBODY THINK OF THE STEAMED HAMS????!!!!

  20. HonkForTheGoose

I hope he goes soarin and flyin wherever he lands. Gonna miss that smile! 🥲

  21. surewhynotwth

Whatever team wants to win the Stanley Cup should sign him

  22. CunderscoreF

Welp… Guess we’ll be watching Skinner hoist the cup next year. Gotta keep the streak going.

  23. They damn well better use those savings to bring in a top line wing. Otherwise it’s just more bullshit from the franchise.

Skinner, with his flaws, leaves a 30 goal hole in the lineup.

Maybe this could be an offer sheet for Seth Jarvis

  24. MrNavinJohnson

Good guy, but half-dimensional player. I’m chuffed at this move. Let’s go!
