Im sure we are all not surprised Tre is gonna be big on Z, but being in on OEL is a very questionable move when your left sides loaded with Mo, Caber, Benny and potentially Z, and your right side is maybe Tanev and Timmins under contract. Hopefully OEL is plan D if Roy, Montour or Carrier are gone
I am not the biggest fan of OEL but I can get behind a D-core of the below:
– Rielly – Tanev
– Zadorov – xxx
– Benoit – McCabe
Then we have guys like Mattinen, Webber & Rifai who can battle for the 7th spot or be the best guys up.

Really don’t want Zadarov, he’s the most likely to get overpaid. Just get tanev plus roy or someone similar

Can we try mat Roy or is he too expensive? Can we do someone somewhere who is cheap and 1-2 years? With so much cap space next year I don’t wanna fuck us now. Also any time GM’s get cap space they get so horny to overpay and blast their loads for 7 year deals. Can Tre not do that please

I like Zadorov just fine, but he reportedly turned down 5×5 in Vancouver, and that already seems a little spicy to me. I’m okay with Tanev; it’s obviously risky due to his age, but he’s literally one of the best defensive defencemen in hockey, and the Leafs need to take some risks at this point, because we only have so many years of peak Matthews left. I’m also relatively confident he’ll be LTIR-able for the later years if necessary.
Y’all are complaining about star players making a couple mill more each.. wait until we have a bad contract signed
