  1. Damn does it seem like Tampa did good. Utah gets a great dman to start the franchise but that return seems pretty sweet.

  2. good trade for both teams. but as soon as utah drafted beaudoin i knew geekie was gonna be traded soon after. both are pretty much the same player: big power forward with sandpaper type game

  3. Moser is still getting better while Sergachev is a slight upgrade over the current play of Moser. Getting Geekie on top of that, who has crazy upside, with a pick is ridiculous. Tampa robbed Utah.

Think of the line combos and interchangeability of this young forward core.
Keller, Schmaltz, Maccelli, Cooley, Crouse, Guenther, But, Doan, and Geekie.
This is the start of some bad moves over the next few years for Utah.

  4. Tampa’s showing that hockey is business first of all… and when the business is done properly then people are happy… 🤷🏻‍♂️

  5. Wow what a haul by Tampa
They stole serg from Montreal, now free up 8.5m and get return to rebuild on the fly

  6. Sergachev was so-so before his injury this past season. Average at best to be brutally honest. Not worth the cap hit at all and this will free up much needed cap space.

  7. Not even close an absolute win for Tampa Bay. Save 9 million a year get a young defense man that is just as good as sergachev Probably actually better defensively. On top of that getting an Amazing offensive prospect that is 6 foot 4 and had 90 points in 50 games. Plus 2 draft picks. We did real good, Miguel sergachev is worth about 6 million a year tops.

  8. I'm in shock, if TB can trade Sergi than any one from any team can be traded…..What a shocker.

  9. Shocker, Sergachev thought he will play with his boys Kuch and Vasy the whole career, bought a home and everything, even came back from this awful injury just a for couple of games, JBB is ruthless. He was overpaid by 1-1.5 mil, but still.

  10. As a Bolts fan let me tell you Utah fans, you’re getting a great player. He will aggravate you sometimes, but he will make you jump off your seat screaming like nobody else. He’s a hype player and a loud player, the type of guy you can count on to change the momentum of a game. It doesn’t matter if it’s a regular season game or the cup clincher Serg always goes out there ready to bring the heat.

As for my personal thoughts, It’s painful to lose a guy like Sergachev who has been such a fan favorite player. However it frees up much needed space and I LOVE the new additions. As well Sergachev was a Bolts for two reasons, one was because we thought he’d be the next Hedman and he hasn’t developed into that in our time here, he may in a bigger role in Utah but it wasn’t gonna happen for us. Otherwise our main reason for having him was for his playoff performances, and given how poorly our last two runs have been it’s smart to shake things up(looking at you Toronto).

Moser completes a new left wing of Hedman, McDonagh, and Moser which could be scary(though now I kinda hope JBB doesn’t hold back on the defensive rebuild and trades Cernak has well). And Geeki, man we need this kid to turn into a star.

Imagine if in five years Geeki is a 40/50+ goal scorer with Point still in his prime and Kuch still being a great passer. That gives me goosebumps man. As well it might be good for when Stamkos is gone and we need the extra production, whether that be by retirement in four~five years or this year if he does indeed leave. Also I really wanna tell GEEK when he scores a goal.

Regardless, Thank you Mikhail Sergachev for being one of the best Bolts ever.

  11. NHL and betman shake your head clowns to many teams add-ons every year and never Canadian if anyone deserves teams it's Canada fucking places you have teams aren't even hockey cities go sit on the beach or desert Vegas biggest fraud city of all betman god damn good hates Canada don't be jelaous of the greatest hockey country in the world just give us teams the Utah hockey club what this minor hockey who get all players who won cups like Vegas then go win it first year it's bullshit fixed like so many games shitty refs blowing calls video review still can't get calls right who's next the Walt Disney Mickeymouse club so they can compete with mighty ducks sounds like kids league

  12. I will miss seeing Geekie’s giant stick knobs. Larger diameter even than any goalie I’ve ever seen. Bigger than baseball bat knobs. Fascinating.

As a default Utah fan for now, I think Tampa wins this trade.

I think Moser is a really good player and will be affordable if they can get him signed to some term length. Geekie has a tiny sample size in pro hockey but until proven otherwise, he’s still a very high prospect. Plus two picks.

I am not saying Sergachev has a terrible contract, but let’s face it, it is one of those contracts where, in the last year or two, you might find yourself in a position to have to fork over even more picks to a rebuilding team to get rid of it as we’ve already seen a lot of this offseason.

I think Utah had a strong, relatively young, relatively balanced defensive core, and they just blew it up for the sake of a “#1 defenseman”. I get it but if you can get 6 young guys and everyone is good enough to be a second pair guy, all vying to earn #1 minutes, to me that’s better than a “number one” and a vulnerable third pair. With very few exceptions.

  13. I think this is just a good hockey trade. No real winner or loser, but I am surprised Geekie was included since he fits the M.O. of big players in the Utah organization. The price was fair and Utah got the best player. To get a #1 D-man via trade is difficult so kudos to both GM's.
