Cheap contract played 62 games last year seems like a solid 7th defenseman option.

  2. ScrewOff_

    He’s 6’5.

Fitz obviously going for size no matter who the player is. I think his plan is to have opponents look at our team and just forfeit, idk.

  3. aresbravo07

Another RHD? Are we sure we’re still in on Pesce?

  4. ilovehenrique14

Interesting. If we’re getting Pesce and Dillon like the reports say we’ll have 8 NHL d-men and Hatakka in the wings but you can never have too much defense. A fourth round pick in 2 drafts is practically nothing for a serviceable depth defenseman.

if we shit next year at least we gonna smash people

  6. septimus29

Habs sub seems to like him as a 6/7 dman. I’ve heard his name before but tbh have never looked into him to know anything about him

  7. quantum_monster

So is DiSimone out as the 7th D? Maybe Nick is heading to the AHL to develop?

    Trying to decipher this…

  8. jerseydevil51

Rempe building a mansion in Fitz’ head at this point.

  9. FriedCammalleri23

Fitz is very obviously trying to flood the defense with massive bodies.

Good for defensive depth, hopefully he’s effective.

Seen a couple videos..big kid and he’ll drop the gloves and appears to use the body effectively..seems the softer than babyshit mantra is being full on attacked this postseason..now I’m really curious about free agency

Good age, low cost, and good stats for a 6D. No complaints from me. We need depth and moves like this come in handy when the inevitable injuries come up.

  12. Dry_Juggernaut_4084

Habs fan here. You got yourselves a really reliable 6th-7th defenseman. And he’s a good guy

  13. nhabster

From a Habs fan: You’ll love him. Pure class and very hard-working.

I think we could have gotten more though lol, but it doesn’t matter. Wish you guys and him the best!

  14. ZachNighthawk

He had a +/- of +11 last year on the team that allowed the 5th most goals (289), and had the 5th worst goal differential (-53) in the league. I feel like that has to count for something. Could be a very good bottom six addition.

  15. Kornja81

Lmao outscore teams?? Nah win via forfeit due to injuries from all the hits 🤣

  16. ilovemyar15

I like the idea of getting bigger and stronger, but we need guys that can hit. Size doesn’t do much if you don’t use it. Dougie and Siegs are big (especially Dougie), but God forbid they ever lay the body on someone. This is why I think the Cotter trade is worth it. He’s not the biggest, but he will hit anything that you put in front of him.

  17. SmurfRockRune

Would have preferred getting a 3rd for him, but I think you guys were able to get a cheaper deal out of us really needing to get rid of some guys. Reliable 3rd pairing guy, won’t be out there wowing you, but doesn’t make mistakes.

  18. thedirewolff21

Dont know much about him but a 4th rounder for a big PK d man i will take it

  19. GregTheWolf144

It seems like Silayev is a Bahl replacement for the future, but this guy is a Bahl replacement for right now

  20. gerbegerger

Habs fan here, he was a fan favourite. Great dude, played some solid hockey for us and still has potential to improve. Be good to him, he’s worth it. Cheers!

  21. hikenbike1515

You think this makes the Devs pass on Dillon and push hard for Zadorov rather than Pesce?

  22. DevilsDadof2

    Siegs (L) – Hamilton (R)

    Hughes (L) – Pesce (R)

    Desimone(R)/Kovi (R) – Nemec (R)

Mix and match however you wish. One issue I see is all my projected 3rd line guys are right-shot dmen. Dillon is a left-shot. I believe Hatakka is no longer be waiver exempt. Yuk.

  23. Pumats_Soul

And you just don’t get it, you keep it Kovacevic

  24. If he’s a solid and cheap bottom pairing Dman why is Montreal trading him?

  25. hobbygod

I’m thinking maybe out on Pesce to take a bigger swing on our forward group..maybe we’ll see pairings like this:

    Siegs-Hamilton
    Hughes-Nemec
    Dillon/LDFA-Kovacevic

    7D Desimone
    First call up Hatakka

Casey if shit hits the fan.

This would give us about 12m after re-signing Mercer and grabbing Dillon (supposedly) to get some high quality middle 6ers.

  26. My issue with all these trades and expected signing is:
Why did we re-sign macdermind?? We are expected to sign some more bangers and now have traded for 2 within the last 2 days

  27. Habs fan coming in peace, very reliable 6-7th defenseman, incredible personnality, you guys gonna like him and he seems like a fit in NJ.

  28. cody-has93

To people asking who will be our 7th Dman – the strategy is pretty clear…

We need 9 NHL ready defensemen minimum because we will be getting suspended a pretty regular amount by taking Rempe/Trouba style runs at absolutely everyone.

Guess management finally got tired of watching the young skill players get broken every year while their teammates sat back and watched
