@Blue Jackets de Columbus

Monahan would be a good short term signing to help. He can play center or wing. Maybe we can finally put Jenner back on the wing.

Just his faceoff win % of 54.9 last year would be an immediate upgrade for this team…finally we could put someone out other than Boone in critical possesion situations. Add in his ability to play the PP effectively and his history with Johnny, it seems like a solid fit if we can get him on a reasonable deal.

I’d be down for this. We need some guys who are able to shelter the youngins when it comes to lines/matchups

Would he center Johnny’s top line? I assume that would be the plan?

Looking at probably a 3×3-3.5 based on AFP Analytics

Checks a few of the boxes off we need (Another veteran voice, Face off specialist, he can PK, the Johnny connection is there).

Would like a right hand center but this would do if it came to it.

That would be cool. Him and Johnny were besties

Lindstrom is 2-3 years away. This would make a whole bunch of sense

One year deal to see if he can put it back together and flip him at the deadline? I’d be here for it. This team can’t commit long term to oft injured vets though.

I would be very down for this if we can get him on a good price.

Great gap center till Lindstrom is more developed. Solid rapport with Johnny. Good faceoff guy.

Lots of good could come from this. Take the load off Fantilli at C, move Jenner to wing potentially, Monahan’s friends with Johnny, trade him at a deadline when his contracts almost up… I really hope this happens

Just want to point out I got downvoted to hell for my [armchair GM post](https://www.reddit.com/r/BlueJackets/s/m2QZZ6Mwoo) that is aging pretty well:

    > As we eagerly await the hiring of a new GM I personally am hoping that they come in with a philosophy focused on getting bigger and more experienced

    > If Laine is back and healthy that is an excellent third line that could easily eat up 15 mins/night without trouble. ***If not, and he leaves the assistance program (sincerely, be well and healthy regardless of what path forward that is, Patty) then we have to move him off the roster ASAP.*** I’m not even sure what deal would be available but hopefully we could find a good landing spot for him that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg for us. With that done I think we can try and find a veteran winger who needs signing. Maybe a Chandler Stephenson from Vegas ***or maybe even Sean Monahan who is coming off a very cheap contract but a decent season. Could be an opportunity to rebuild some chemistry with Gaudreau and add an interesting wrinkle to the top 9.***

    > Obviously the math here has to work with resigning RFAs. So by ***losing Bean, Boqvist, Texier, and Johnson***

    > At the draft I’m taking Cayden Lindstrom. He’s huge, fast power forward

The boldest move I called for is trading Johnson and some other pieces for Brock Nelson. He better not put a Blue Jackets themed basketball court at his house is all I’m saying…

You could do a hell of a lot worse as a stopgap free agent C/F for a couple of years. My question is whether, in order to get him, you’d need to go bigger on $AAV or term. I’d be willing to go 3x$4M.

  12. Ralphcox69

I’d love this. Him and Johnny have great chemistry
