    all Hail the Zitooooo ✊🏼🐀💯

money comes and goes. Championships are eternal. Reino knows this 💪🏼

  2. This is at least 1 million less than I thought they would pay him, which gives us the ability to pick up $1 M fill in for someone we lose

  3. starwestsky

This is a nod toward Monty. Come on bud, we’re all taking a discount to roll it back! (Wishful thinking but that’s why we’re called fans)

  4. two_doors__Down

    That’s CRAZY

Thank you reino you stud. Toom way below what he could have gotten on market

  5. A_Random_ninja

incoming “but the tax advantages” from canadian fans in /r/hockey

  6. Necrogasmic

Keeping 7 of our top 8 forwards for next year is fucking huge. Hope Lundell also takes a team friendly deal!

  7. Use that extra million for Lomberg!! Let’s fuckin go

  8. PurifiedVenom

Hot damn I would’ve been happy with a 9mil AAV! Glad last year didn’t go to his head cause dude probably could’ve gotten 10mil somewhere if he just cared about money

  9. I’m just happy I can go back to rooting for Sam to get 60 goals. Last year I was hoping most came from Chucky and Barky since we have them locked up already.

And yet Zito still can’t win the GM of the Year award.

He signs Ekman-Larsson, Mikkola and Kulikov and adds Stolarz, Lorentz, Stenlund and E-Rod. Then during the season he trades for Tarasenko and Okposo.

And somehow that’s not good enough.

I bet they did the math and just showed him $8.625 is essentially the exact difference of getting $10m without 13% city/state tax elsewhere. Amazing deal. Run it back!

Wow, based on all the reports the last week or so I thought it was going to be 9M AAVG at the minimum.

    A few thoughts…..

**1)** It’s hard to find anyone who dislikes this move. I think even the most ardent Reinhart supporters will consider that the 57 goals was likely the *peak* of his career. That’s not an insult. It’s just an absurd margin to hit unless you’re Ovi or Matthews. With him being more in line with a 30-35 goal scorer who brings A LOT else to the table, it’s a good signing.

**2)** I am made only slightly queasy by the fact… for the final two rounds… it felt like Rhino was the guy who « vanished » the most of our top scores. He was limited to essentially only scoring on the powerplay vs the Rangers and against the Oilers, not even that. His first goal of the Finals came on a 4 v 4 tip on a Forsling shot and the other, well, the game-winning goal in Game 7 to clinch the Cup so that kind of forgives everything. Still, something I noted.

**3)** If we’re being truthful, the final 3-4 years of this deal may not age the most gracefully. But we have a cup window for the next 4 years. I understand you make sacrifices on the backend to win RIGHT NOW which every club has to make.

8*8.625 is 69, nice. Also the people who will complain about the tax stuff were also mocking him about how he won’t be able to match his numbers from this year. Which he probably won’t but that’s what makes this a great deal for both sides

  14. TkilledJ

This is a number I’m happy with!!! I was in the $8.5 camp and adamant about it. Welcome back Rhino!!!!

  15. flomarilius

$3M less than market, $1M less than what we thought… yet $1M more than optimal.

~11M to sign two defensemen, an entire 4th line and a 3rd line winger.

  16. Ashamed-Dirt5101

Great news! So happy to keep the core together for a repeat. Now waiting for Lundell.

  17. TkilledJ

Rhino got sauced at the wedding and was feeling sentimental 😂❤️.

  18. LampCityFam

I was figuring around 8.5 AAV. Great job by Zito.

  19. 186downshoreline

    That’ll do zito, that’ll do.

  20. Banegulwud

    we’re resigning Lundy right??? RIGHT????
