Absolutel steal at ~$6.5MM. For reference, Pesce and Skjei probably get more than that. I know someone will make a comment about the term for an already 30 year old but I’m not concerned. Usually it’s speed, offensive ability, or physicality that falls off as defenseman age, Slavin doesn’t depend on any of that. His hockey IQ will allow him to maintain his elite defensive skills for years.
That’s a steal for Slavin. By far most underrated defenseman in the league.

We needed some good news. Obviously, a lot can happen in eight years and we don’t know what kind of clauses are involved but this seems to indicate that Slavin will be a Hurrican for life.
