  1. SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO FEEL? LOL. Well, we did something.

  2. Unit_731_Survivor

That’s huge, I love having this guy locked up. Should be a decent fit with Miller or Petey

  3. norms_tw

    holy shit????????

the canucks run a tight ship, how did no insider break this LOL

  4. Guess we’re just swapping players with Boston now

  5. -GregTheGreat-

I like it. He’s more of a very good middle-six than top six player but he feels like a perfect Tocchet player and should compliment Petey’s game.

  6. thejew62

7 years is a lot but he’ll be good for the top 6

  7. anonymitylol

hey this is actually a pretty good contact

  8. Ruilin96

So I guess Louie will be a complete Canuck homer now. His son signs with the team and good friends with Tocchet. He might leave the Edmonton broadcast to join the Canucks regional broadcast.

  9. Canucks_98

That’s a lot of term, I hope he can live upto the cap hit

  10. chopkins92

He had 19 goals and 40 points last season. Feels like a bad contract on the surface. Am I wrong?

  11. Pure goal scorer, could provide huge value long term.

  12. r/canucks literally minutes ago: « Ha, look at the prices, it’s good *we* aren’t handing out ridiculous contracts »

  13. Canadian96

Post above said 7.75m please tell me it’s 5.5m

  14. mediumyeet

    Oooff don’t love that term.

At least he’s one of the younger UFA’s and brings speed and physicality. He should be a nice fit with either Petey or Miller.

  15. fitzygerald19

Fair AAV, I like the 7 year term that leaves him lots of wiggle room when he snipes with Petey or Miller

  16. brock6oeser

We’re slowly converting the SN/HNIC panel into Canucks homers.

    Bieksa, Friedman, now Louie DeBrusk

  17. Skateboard123

Everyone’s hyped? Interesting. He’s not that good

  18. Strict-Caterpillar38

My initial gut reaction is I like it. Seems like a Tocchet player.

  19. CrayonOlympics

7 years is a long time but he’s 27 so it’s about as young as you can be as a UFA. Much better than a guy who is 30 or older.

I feel like this is fair value, I still don’t love how long it is but he’s a solid middle 6 player and should complement either of the top six lines well

  20. hobbesdidit

Hmm I guess this is the cost for 40 point players these days

  21. Shaftell

Nice middle 6 player. He was on my list of players I hoped we would get. Good cap hit, kinda lengthy term though.

  22. Couchfighter22

11 pts in 13 playoff games this year. 21 pts in 27 playoff games the last 3 years.

  23. Captain_JT_Miller

So this looks like a Tocchet guy?

  24. Debrusk turns 28 this fall, so in terms of age, handing him 7 years is not the end of the world. Going to be hilarious to see his dad not have to circlejerk the opposing team on HNIC now

Also, I think this was them hunting for a left hand shot for the PP. I’d expect to see Debrusk in Horvat’s old bumper spot.

  25. SackofLlamas

**Very** Tocchet player. Physical, forechecks hard, has a good motor, decent north-south player offensively (but don’t expect him to drive a line). Consistently elevates his game in the playoffs, has a game built for them.

Probably not a stylistic match for Pettersson, but would look very good on Miller’s flank.

Cap hit feels a bit dear especially by last year’s cap % standards, but term plays a big role here…cap is expected to continue to rise, and DeBrusk is only 27. You hope to get 5 consistent/good years out of him here.

A fair contract. Not exceptional, but one of the better options available given the player’s age and playing style.

  26. Black_Raven__

Love that guy play. Hes got everything especially the playoff grit.

  27. McBarnacle

Sometimes you just have to say Allvin might know better than you.

I think Allvin has earned trust with the fanbase. So I’m all for DeBrusk. He might blossom under Tocchet style

  28. Obvious-Property-236

I feel like the Canucks believe Petey, or miller, can make this guy a 30 goal scorer therefore it is a bargain deal.

Considering the options in the UFA I think they had no other choice. Big names were not going to sign here unless they were overpaid, and Boeser’s contract is up very soon so the Canucks probably felt we couldn’t do that.

    Mixed feelings about this.

  29. Shop-lift

I’m glad the Leaf Killer is going to other certified Toronto Haters. Best of luck with him and Heinen 🫡

  30. fastcurrency88

I’ve always liked Debrusk. Kid plays hard. Always shows up for the playoffs and absolutely kills the leafs every time. You have to give to get. I think he will look great in our top 6.

  31. happigofucky

Super happy to have a winger that can score next year but this is a terrible fucking deal.

straight dawgs like Perron and arvidsson going for 4mx2 while we get saddled with another long term deal that is gonna look terrible if he ever gets injured.

This Canada tax is the death of me

  32. Zylavier

Debrusk is one of the best defensive forwards in the game, a consistent 20 goal scorer and a 50ish point player. Pretty good deal. He’s only 27 too……JTM vibes?

  33. plushie-apocalypse

Came here to lament about losing Teravainen, but DeBrusk was the other guy I hoped we’d land. Yeah!!

  34. Captain_JT_Miller

DeBrusk has been on the Canucks radar for awhile it seems. Petey getting some gritty wingers.

  35. Rand_University81

Zero heads up about this. Our management runs a tight ship and I love it.
