7.6 million for 8 years, potential to look really good pretty soon.

  3. shogun2909

Awesome cap hit at 7,6M, this may be a steal down the line

  4. JediMasterZao

After 15 years we finally have a 1st line again!

  5. Le8ronJames

Kent is coooooooooooking. Internal cap is the best thing ever

  6. fortytwoanswers

YESSSSSSS this is going to age SO well.

  7. KoreanPhones

SLAFFY TAFFY FOR 8 MORE YEARS LESGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  8. Woullie_26

    HOLY STEAL WTF MAN.

all of the core is locked on cheap caphits long term

Our window is truly about to open.

Hopefully Demidov dosent kill us but I’m so happy man

  9. LiveCryptographer488

Core 4, suck our flexible cap hit’s dick

  10. Pretty good especially after the cap increase

The ~culture~ that HuGo preach is paying dividends. Slaf coming in at 7.6M AAV, relying on Suzuki to have set the top end for the young core, could be huge in a few years when he may end up being more impactful than Suzuki.

  12. Isotope55

We have Suzuki, Caufield and Slaf signed under 8M$ each 👀

  13. Olipod2002

    EXTREMELY COMMON WENT WUGHES W

    HOES MAD

    STAY MAD

    IDGAF

Beast, love that he’s under Suzuki and Caufield. Getting your core guys locked up is important, and with the way the league is going this will be 2nd line money in like 4 years.

  15. Smokealotofpotalus

So any math wiz in here can tell us what’s left to spend?

  16. steeler2323

He accepted a great price. Almost 1M less than Owen Power, who was in a similar situation when he signed his extension.

That contract might already be great value when it start next year. No real downside.

  17. beto5243

7.6 m is absolutely disgusting. Great piece of work for Kent Hughes, this could have easily been 9m+ if Slaf continues at the pace he played the second half of last season at.

  18. Great move, love that we went aggressive here and removed any potential drama. Solid cap number that has a high probability of being a steal in years to come.

  19. The___Colonel

What a good contract. Our top 3 guys all making less than 8 is incredible

  20. PsychoDrifter

Love this move! You know Slaf is just getting warmed up and getting him locked in on a team-friendly win-win contract was a must.

Really hoping they can convince Demidov of a similar type deal after his entry level contract so they can lock in that core for cup #25.

  21. DelugeQc

C’est un gros acte de foi envers Slaf de la part de la direction du CH. Personnellement, je pense que ça va devenir une aubaine d’ici 2-3 saisons.

  22. Tighthead613

Kent put the women and children to bed and went looking for F-ing dinner.

  23. I was expecting 64M over 8. 60.8M over 8 is even better.

Glad Hughes got it done sooner rather than later and avoided inflation that comes with the cap rising.

It was the biggest deal the Habs could sign and they got it done on Day 1 of the UFA season.

Best deal signed in the NHL today.

  24. youngbiganj

Great signing. All staying under the captain. That’s how you build a long lasting squad. Well done Went Wughes!
