Not sure why people are upset with this one. Desharnais took a really big step last year, and if he wasn’t stuck with defensive liability Nurse in the playoffs, he’d be pretty alright in easy to medium matchups. Does PK, is physical, what’s not to like?

Well a right side of Myers-Desharnais sure is something. I’m not sure what the word I’m looking for is but it is something.
Feels a bit like a panic signing after the market thinned out.
Puck skill has been an issue for the bottom half of the D and this doesn’t really help there. They must really feel a lot better about Soucy-Myers as a second pairing than I do.
Oiler fan. Kind of an overpayment but not egregious. Has absolutely no offensive game but is a solid depth dman.

Bottom 4 worked when we had a strong third pairing in Cole-Zadorov but with Desharnais-Forbort I’m not feeling nearly as confident
I prefer it to Ian Cole, not gonna lie..
Interesting signing, he’s absolutely massive and not that old, which I like. He only averaged 15:44 TOI last year though, the canucks must be betting on him being able to take a big step forward, either that or we’re going to see Myers playing a lot more minutes.

Not a terrible signing but man, unless Gonchar, Foote and Tocchet work some magic this d-core isn’t really competing with the top of the league

This new coaching staff has worked magic on our backend – I honestly think this could be a solid gamble. Look at Edmonton’s team defence and look at ours, we have much better structure.

This defense is going to be absolutely massive and I’m here for it, but I’m worried they’ll once again have trouble moving the puck out of their own end.
He’s an ok player, but I was really hoping for more skating and puck moving from the defense.

This just isn’t a needle moving signing. On its own, it’s probably fine, maybe a bit rich….but man we need a top 4. I would have been content waiting for a better opportunity to spend that cap space.
A big body like Desharnais will play well in Tocc’s system too. This is a good get.
Wonder what this means for Juulsen’s future with the club. Will he find it harder or easier to take steps forward with these signings?

This is a good pick up. Canucks have the defensive coaching to make him much better than he was in Edmonton
Not a fan. Lots of cheap 5-7 Dmen available with higher upside than Vinny D. For those who think he’s our Zadorov replacement, remember we’re going from the highlight-reel Dman to the Dman getting clowned.
Kylington, Boqvist, Brannstorm, Hakanpaa (Leafs for 1.5?) just to name a few.
Not saying this is Benning days, but the trend of stocking up on well-paid bottom/middle six forwards and 5-7th defencemen while everyone else stocks up stars is a bit worrying. Of course, everyone’s gonna downvote and homer for everything PA does like JB beforehand, but call a spade a spade.
