No kidding. Now, get Marner to waive his NMC and facilitate his trade.

  2. I would like to know the cost of getting Vatrano from the ducks. 30, cheap contract, 37 goals last year, 60pts, seems to produce when given a chance.

Scouting report says he is good on the PP, quick, hits, and while a bit wild has effort defensively.

One year left to replace Bert seems like a fair risk to take, and Anaheim would likely want to move him as he doesn’t quite fit their window. Getting someone like Robertson or Lilly back (not sure where he fits now) may be pretty enticing for them.

If not now, then I would love to take a peek at him at the TDL.

  3. he means he hasn’t made it hard enough for Brandon Pridham

Good because I’m not satisfied with what has happened so far.

If they can get Henrique and/or Skinner to agree I am confident they’ll move out Jarnkrok, Robertson, Timmins, and Kampf.

I think this is exactly what they’re trying to do. If they can only get one Jarnkrok and Timmins will be the first to go.

  6. tm_leafer

Assuming no Marner trade, the best remaining path forward might involve moving some combination of Timmins, Jarnkrok, and/or Kampf, and hopefully having enough to add a middle 6 forward who can play in the top 6 if needed. Adam Henrique still out there?

    Ideally, somehow…

    – Top-6 LW

    – 3rd line C

Inb4 he signs marner to a 15 mil contract for 8 years

  9. DinoRexasaur

I would love skinner too. Secondary scoring has been our issue.

We need more from the bottom 6, and could be a 25-35 goal scorer who should come in quite cheap.

  10. Ristifer

Not sure why people keep bringing up Marner. He isn’t going anywhere this year.

  11. adamhdavis

Does it really matter though? We’ve had great teams on paper in the past and they didn’t produce. He could sign Mcdavid and vasilevsky but if they didn’t produce in the playoffs it wouldn’t matter. I feel confident in this team after today just like I did in the past, but it’s hard for me to get excited now after what keeps happening every year in April

This guy is bloodthirsty. I like that!

  13. theguyishere16

Not crazy about the Tanev term (although Im sure its buyout friendly/LTIR bound before it expires) but for next year exclusive he did a good job rebuilding the Leafs defence.

  14. sluck131

I think liljegren may be a sign and trade don’t see were he fits now.

  15. legendary_sponge

Leafs are better in net and way better on D, they lost Bert up front and that’s about. I’d say it’s been solid so far and they aren’t done yet.

I like the angle tre is taking, might not be all good trades or signings but refreshingly better than Dubas, Tre is making it seem like Dubas was neglecting/ignoring the d core even though Dubas kinda tried.

  17. Hrenklin

We still need a solid 3c, trim some fat. And I’m still very concerned with our goaltending.

  18. miffy495

I am stoked to have a goaltending tandem of Woll and Stolarz just so that I can call them « Wollarz ».

Until some serious money gets freed up this team will look pretty much the same as it always has. I like what they did today. I would have preferred some of the bigger names and actual top 4 defenseman and some solid help up front but they simply don’t have room for it.

They now have a much better defense and a thinner forward group. Next year was always going to be a little rough. When JT is either off the books (or re-signed to a much lower deal) then you can fill in another hole or two.

I don’t LOVE every signing but none of them make me go WTF either. Given what they had to work with I think the FO did pretty damn good

  20. EbbStraight9917

So what’s next here? Just curious as to what we could do here, do we move lillypad+Robertson+yarncrotch and maybe picks for a 2C and move JT down to 3C? Roll out something like Marner/AM/Domi……Willy/???/Mcmann(knies)……Knies/JT/Dewar….Holmberg/Kampf/Reaves I guess Gregor is gone but I feel like that’s replaceable for cheap

  21. That quote was from a direct question on if this team is better than last years. He is not goung to answer that honestly. That is a diplomatic answer. He said ,this is July 1st, we have work to do. Context is everything

  22. If they could get a top 6 forward and some depth defensemen I’d say that’s about the best they can do.

  23. Thespud1979

if he keeps the core nothing changes. Regular season hype followed by post season pants shitting. We’re not right on the cusp in the post season, we’re a long way out.

  24. I feel ok after today. I’m excited to see what and where that work gets us
