  1. So with the 2 signings of Edmundson and Burroughs where does that leave Spence , Clarke and I'll throw in Moverare and you still have Englund?

  2. I'm happy. I would rather watch a non playoff team that competes than whatever that debacle was last year. Sure, they had that long road winning streak last season, and the goals were coming flowing like champagne on New Years; but those of us who know…knew. And those of us who don't…didn't. Jeannot probably doesn't score 20, but at least he can impact the game, throw that big hit, muck it up, and bring that intimidation factor. Foegele is another guy who brings it every shift. I remember when he walked down the tunnel with a Kobe t-shirt. That was too funny. Lewis is a winner. I don't care what all these know nothing say. He impacts the game as well with great pressure and play reading. When he scores his 100th goal as a King, it will be one of the finest moments ever. Roy, Arvie, Liz,.are all gone. Good, i say. After years and years of failure and defeat, they can all go. They will give up more goals with Clarke, but so what. Whatever. Kuemper should have been traded, and Talbot would take 2 y 5 mil. That would have been nice. The Edmunson deal is a headscrather. Was somebody really offering this guy that much money and term that Blake was desperate to match or did Ed's agent pull a fast one? Idk. Slafkovsky got 8 years, 60.8 mil. Now you know what Byfield's agent will be asking for.

  3. Prime example of leadership that doesn't have a clue on how to biuld a Cup contending team

  4. Terrible day all around as a Kings fan. Lost Roy and Arvi as well and to top it off Arvi goes to the Oilers.

  5. Arvidson, lizotte, Roy, and PLD go your return is Kuemper, Jeanot, Fogle, and Edmunson.

I just don’t see it being better. The worst part is the term and asset management.

Durzi got 6 mil. What about Walker, Roy and Faber. Blake should not have been given the opportunity to proceed running this team after the PLD and Cal Petersen deals

  6. The salary cap was a mess when Blake took over. Got two cups out of it, but still paying the price. Blake comes in and makes some stupid moves, the biggest in Bergevin who is definitely responsible for Edmondson. Front office has to go. Play the kids and get another front office.

  7. I hate to be an 'Eeyore' but I'm 'whelmed' with these moves. Blake is shopping at 'Dollar Tree' for a special wedding reception. #Geez. Can you say…..mediocre?

  8. Blake is horrible with player money management he said before that he want to pay players high salary so it would draw other players to come to la kings and then with not much care towards goaltending wich is f in nuts Blake idk man wtf GKG

  9. I like it. They desperately needed to get tougher and harder to play against. We'll see what else happens.

  10. They signed arguably the worst contract in free agency. They used all their savings in the PLD-Kuemper swap and then some on Edmundson who has some of the worst underlying numbers around and is injury prone to boot. Too many years, too much money.

  11. I would have preferred Dillon or Zadorov over Edmunson but I’ll say this to me the biggest problem the Kings have had in the 3 playoff series vs Edmonton was a lack of grit and I will say trading for Jeannot and adding Foegle and Edmundson addresses that. I just think Guentzel,Stamkos and Debrusk was never really an option. I don’t see Burroughs competing unless Edmunson gets hurt which is likely and Englund falls out of favor with the staff.

  12. I agree it was underwhelming. However are you really paying Zadorov 5 million per season as a 3rd pairing guy? There was a lot of overpayment. Everyone is forgetting Byfield’s agent mat be insisting on a long term deal, at which point the money becomes very restrictive. I think expectations were unrealistic. The cap situation is on Blake but it is what it is .

  13. Kings dumping overachievers who were a help to the team (Grundstrom, Lizotte, Roy) and top-quality talent (Arvidsson) in order to bring in a career bottom six (Foegele) a giant bust (Jeannot) and a redundant amount of "physical" 3rd-pairing defensemen (Burroughs, Edmundson) one of whom took way too many penalties and the other of whom is slower than a corpse.

Utterly pathetic. Are they tanking to try and get a good draft position for next season? The Edmundson contract is big fat joke.

Do we "promote" Blake to Senior VP in charge of Restroom Sanitizing now, or wait until the team craters at mid-season?

  14. After looking at Free Agency so far, i have 2 thoughts…
    1. The best thing to happen so far is that Steven Stamkos didn't sign with the Golden Knights
    2. This (last season and this coming one) reminds me a bit of the final 2 years of the Keim/Kingsbury Era in Arizona. They were great for the second to last year of that era [going 10-2 before losing all but (i believe) one of their last games and then getting bent over backwards in the Wild Card round by the Rams[. The next year they completely Wile E Coyoted themselves off a cliff going 4-13 and getting the 3rd overall pick in the draft. It was after that season Cardinals Owner Michael Bidwell Bid Keim and Kingsbury farewell (pun intended), eventually hiring Monti Ossenfort and Johnathan Gannon who have thrown out the old school Cardinals and (so far at least) built up a new era where anything but playing to win is unacceptable (and unlike Rob Blake and Luc Robitaille, Monti and JG don't play around). In this comparison, last year was the "next year will be different… right?" year, and so far this free agency period has built up to this coming season possibly being one where the Kings bottom out like the Cardinals in 2022-23 (albeit probably not putting as abhorrent of a product out during said season) barring an explosion of consistent greatness from the right players at the right time. Of course, I hope i'm wrong, or if i'm right, then the correlation continues long enough for Robitaille and Blake to be sent packing and the new President and GM are able to build something better for the future as Monti and JG seem to have done in AZ.

  15. Out of the long list of young talented free agents we chose a guy who has yet to stay healthy for an entire season in edmondsun and then we over pay foegele… duclair would have been a better signing honestly what disaster. So many other routes we could have taken yesterday. Blake must wear a clown costume on July 1st every year 😂 he probably hands the players a blank check too

  16. You know what despises me the most about this whole scenario? The fact that no one apologized, in fact even mentioned the promise of getting to the 2nd round. Won't settle for anything less and neither should we mumbo jumbo. Smh

  17. Edmundson 🤦‍♀️… I’d rather just bring up AHL guys and say we a doing a hard rebuild…
Watching a young team going towards future playoff runs is easier to swallow than barely getting in and then getting our ass kicked out of the first round
    🏒

  18. PLD floater….gone
    Arvidson always hurt…..gone
    Matt Roy overrated…..gone
    We're better today IMO
    Nobody pushes us around again.

  19. Not sure what you expected.
I am glad the Kings finally added grit to the lineup, the problem is they lost all their depth already with the costly and foolish PLD trade. All of this frustration should be directed back to that as well as signing Gavrikov for way too much. That cost us Matt Roy.

  20. Man this show used to be a top priority but I rarely check in anymore. Blake tried a big splash last season and it backfired he seems to be a bit more cautious this year and he gets slammed for that now. Arvidsson can't play a full season, Roys contract won't look great in 2 years if not sooner. And what might be crucial is having cap space this season. The tight cap has handcuffed teams in recent years, every season there's a headscratching move for next to nothing as cap dumps. There have been opportunities for teams to improve without giving up assets every season just due to cap affordability. Not making big moves on the first day of free agency is a positive. Get the Hockey Guy on instead of recycling the same 3 or 4 guests that are on the Kings payroll. And if you don't know The Hockey Guy go check him out, no frills hockey coverage.

  21. With the names available in free agency, the Kings could have improved the roster on paper for sure. This does not feel like we did that. There are plenty of fans and clearly Blake and Luc, who thought that the Kings weren’t tough enough. That was the prominent line of thinking 10+ years ago, but this is now the era of the skill game. Looking at Florida, they have some sandpaper, but they also had skill and lots of it. Out hitting an opponent is not a favorable stat in today’s game, it’s misleading usually, it generally means your team didn’t have the puck that much and was chasing. I would love to have doubtful feelings proven wrong, absolutely, but most of our growth and success lies with the rookies and young guns now. We will see 👑

  22. The Ducks did a better job doing nothing than the Kings did with these minor league trades. I understand Roy leaving for more money but letting Lizzotte walk away for almost half of the price of the 2 we just picked up. He was one of the very few who showed up all season and put in the effort.

  23. Eddie, I understand what you are saying. But I think there is something people aren't looking at. If you were a player, and the Kings made an off to you, but Florida made the same offer would you choose to move your family to Florida or California? I would pick Florida. California is not a place I would want my family to live in right now. I live in California, and I am looking to leave. A lot of good players have turned us done, and I don't think it has anything to do with the team. It has to do with the state.
