I looked him up on line, for fuck sakes you call yourself a sports reporter. Maybe watching sports will help. What a joke. How do american watch these clowns
Was barely an overspend, we maybe spent 775k over on lindholm, and zadorov was a good deal, christ do you guys know anything about hockey, we got so much better today it’s not even funny, between what we added swayman, potsy coming back, and why the hell would we put coyle on the 3rd line when he had a great year last year and played well as the 2c, potsy will be there one day if he keeps progressing like I think he will, but for now you run, Zacha-lindholm-pasta Marchy-coyle-geekie Merkulov-potsy-Freddy Brazeau-Beecher-open that last winger spot is pretty well open to any of our young guns that are ready for the next move and on d we’re stacked. Mcavoy-zadorov Carlo-lindholm Peeke-lohrei Wotherspoon we’re going to be just fine better than fine
I don't think Zadorov is worth 30 million. He is a defense defenseman that can score occasionally. I'm not a big fan of more Russian players coming to the USA. I'd like to find out if he is a Putin supporter.
Mason Lorhie will sit and develop on the 3rd pair and grow into our (hope) D1 left shot aside from Charlie. He’ll get better match ups and complement Peek well. This isn’t the end of hampus. This give mason time. pastas contract was the biggest contract sweeny has given out. 90 million of 8 years. Elias is younger and they’re solidifying their core for the next 5-6 years. Now they’re allowing room for baby Bs to step up and take a spot on the roster. I used to like the sports hub.
The Bruins got much bigger, faster, physical and nastier on the the 4th line not too mention on their back end and there's no doubt they are a better team now than they were last year
Zadorov will make the Bruins bigger and tougher to play against while also giving them the best Top 6 depth on defense in the NHL (objectively) while also allowing Lohrei to have some pressure taken off of him as he develops further
Elias Lindholm will also make the Bruins tougher to play against, he’s a legit Top 6 center and he’s arrival also likely means they’ll get more out of both David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha next season
Things not to Love:
Elias Lindholm only scored 6, 5×5 goals last year between Calgary and Vancouver and the past two seasons both his high level numbers and his advanced metrics haven’t exactly been on the right side of “great”, in fact they’ve kind of just been in the realm of “barely good enough”
Again, I love Lindholm but in terms of their overall Top 6 scoring talent it’s hard to really say that they improved very much by just adding Lindholm and subtracting Debrusk
Adds: Elias Lindholm Subtracts: Jake Debrusk
The last two seasons combined Jake Debrusk has scored 46 goals. Lindholm, 37
Anything else as of right now in their top 6? Um, nope
So again Bruins Homers before you start in
I like Lindholm and he’ll make them better while also helping them to get more out of both Pasta and Zacha. 100% agree with this sentiment
However, he’s not an elite 1c or high end scoring threat (note he’s two elite years were with Tkachuk & Gradeau, so…) and he’s been declining, not ascending from a scoring perspective two years running
AND
No one on planet earth could say with a straight face that the Boston Bruins got infinitely better in terms of their overall Top 6 scoring depth with their moves today by simply swapping out Debrusk’s offense for Lindholm’s
And no homers, I’m not saying Lindholm is a Debrusk replacement.
They moved one Top 6 wing scorer for a Top 6 center scorer. That’s not exponentially improving theie overall Top 6 scoring problem.
They moved out Jake Debrusk’s offense in the Top 6 for Elias Lindholm’s offense in the Top 6
A guy who scored 6, 5×5 goals last year in a full time NHL role while he played with good players in all situations
Also, the term on Zadorov’s contract is kind of puke inducing but the Cap will go up and that’s just a problem Don Sweeney will have to deal with in 2032 or something because odds are, he’s still going to be GM #yikes
It seems as though the Bruins still know that they have to improve in their Top 6 and it sure seems like some other kind of move is coming
I can’t believe they are either going to slot Frederic or Geekie into a Top role, again replicating the problem Sweeney can’t get away from (i.e. playing bottom 6 guys in Top 6 roles)
Or that they are counting on wild cards like Merkulov or Lysell being their 2RW out of camp, which again, seems like it’s not even close to a real option because Merkulov is not a Top 6 NHL player and all of the reports out of PVD from credible sources indicated Lysell isn't going to be ready to be a full time Top 6 player this coming year in Boston
I think another move is coming. I pray another move is coming
The Bruins got better in a lot of areas today, there is not doubt about that. However, They still haven’t done enough to address their overall Top 6 scoring needs because they subtracted one Top 6 player to only add another without doing anything else in the Top 6
Plenty of time left in the off season though…. Let’s hope Don Sweeney can get figure it out
They can also always address a Top 6 wing at the trade deadline next year if whatever Plan A they decide to go with to start the season ends up imploding
So there’s always that to consider as well, although this process of not building through the draft and constantly trading away draft picks is only becoming more and more of a long term problem
The Bruins accomplished getting two good players in free agency, possibly started to rebuid their prospect pool and will get the contract done for Swayman. They are a better team today.
The thing everyone seems to be forgetting is how well Poitras played on the second line before he got hurt. Assuming he comes back as 2c and Coyle 3c teams looking pretty good with the potential for prospects to come in and fill any roster spots still open for the taking
Both of them are perfect Bruins. If Eric gets back to two years ago then that is a great deal. Nikita is a steal. He was great in the playoffs. He is a ferocious hitter. He is also really funny in interviews. He is going to be wildly popular in Boston.

Lohrei is going to be really good

Watching the 3 of you sitting there trying to analyze hockey is like watching a bunch of monkeys playing on a computer.
Lindholm is worth every penny Bruins need his skillset

god these guys are dumb – lindholm will be great. hes not an offensive powerhouse, he will be great and really help on the back end.
Amusing hearing Felger and Mazz tryiing to talk about hockey. Amateurs.
I don't see an overpayment,
David Krejci $7.25 X6
David Backes $6X6 🤮
Elias Lindholm isn't Backes.
Solid d-core heading into the next season. Hoping Swayman signs soon.
The Bruins accomplished getting two good players in free agency, possibly started to rebuid their prospect pool and will get the contract done for Swayman. They are a better team today.
H. Lindholm and Zacha need to be traded.
Bruins overpaid for Lindholm because they had no choice…they had too !
Lets see how they play in the PLAYOFFS
Mazz…he IS a 2nd line Center !
McAVOY disappears EVERY PLAYOFF !
I agree 100000% NO 1 is untouchable on this team
Boy did the Bruins pay for it….because they CAN'T DRAFT !!!
Need more scoring.
you guys are crazy. Best line in the nhl now, deepest defense , and when they sign Sway, best goalie
The thing everyone seems to be forgetting is how well Poitras played on the second line before he got hurt. Assuming he comes back as 2c and Coyle 3c teams looking pretty good with the potential for prospects to come in and fill any roster spots still open for the taking
This may be the most cogent analysis of the Bruins I have ever heard from this program.
Both of them are perfect Bruins. If Eric gets back to two years ago then that is a great deal. Nikita is a steal. He was great in the playoffs. He is a ferocious hitter. He is also really funny in interviews. He is going to be wildly popular in Boston.
You can't make these guys happy
I’d take Lindholm. Stamkos is a pp specialist.
I’m hoping Lysell and Poitras can make strides towards that ceiling.
