I love this franchise. It seems small, but this shit matters in the grand scheme of things.
In the purest sense, this is a good employer taking care of a good employee. When NHL players look at teams to sign with – this stuff has an impact.
The Avs have been remarkably consistent around taking care of their guys on and off the ice – whether that’s Frankie, Gabe, Cogs, or Val.
They’ve been consistent in their promotion of the Hockey is for Everyone initiative as well as the passion around Hockey Fights Cancer and the appreciation of Maxy.
There’s obvious things that can be improved, especially around the TV access locally (that’s an understatement), but from Super Joe on down the organization has been one that I’m proud to call myself a fan of.

Stories like this one and Cogliano joining the front office are how you know the inner atmosphere of this franchise is widely respected and loved among the NHL player base. Guys want to be here. Even if they can’t play for the team.
