As much as I would have liked to have added Jake Guentzel. It was going to be very expensive. Plus, with Quinn Hughes and Boeser needing contracts down the road going above what Tampa Bay was going to pay, Jake Guentzel would have meant potentially losing either Boeser or Hughes.

I do think DeBrusk’s contract is going to age a hell of a lot better than Guentzel’s. Like there’s a pretty solid chance he’ll outperform it, where as Guentzel’s you gotta hope he’ll just live up to it, it’s going to be a difficult one to outperform.

There is a chance that DeBrusk’s contact could end up as one of the best bargain contracts in the league if he develops chemistry with Pettersson and consistently puts up around 70 points and 30 goals.
