Wow, this is quite a gem to come across. Dave Semenko scoring the final WHA goal and the Jets winning the final Avco Cup title. Was Semenko one of the two players the Oilers protected when they made the transition to the NHL? Also, I've heard that today no one knows what happened to the old WHA trophy, because it supposedly went missing after the Jets left town for Phoenix.
I think they did keep Semenko to protect Gretzky…..
As far as the AVCO Cup goes, it sits here in Winnipeg at the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame located at the Bay ( Downtown ) Thank god the Yotes didn't steal EVERYTHING from this city….
Bring'Em Back!
the only sad thing is no one realized what the NHL would do to the jets, because the NHL knows that all the WHA teams were legit contenders. till the NHL fucked em over
How did Al Shaver announce this game? He was the voice of the North Stars every year when they were in minnesota. Wasnt there an announcer in Winnipeg or Edmonton that could have covered it? Al Shaver was a tremendous announcer for the North Stars however and is missed in Minnesota. He is alive and well in Victoria, BC.
This is cool. I'm glad they leave out the NHL raping the team of its best players after the merger.
BaBaBaBenny and The Jets, gotta love 'um. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I was sitting at the other end of the arena, behind the loser's goal! Do you have any footage of the goals scored by the Hot Line? I'd love to see that again.
its great to see gretzky lose.
Good to see Lars-Erik Sjöberg, but sad to know he died only 10 tears later in cancer.
