  1. I really wish sid was on a line with Evan Rodriguez. I knew we shouldn’t have let him go. I’ve been saying that for years now. I’m glad he thrived and is now a Stanley cup champion. Needles to say this team was done a disservice by management as of late.

  2. Big-time risk? Penguins need to do whatever they need to do to get just a little bit better because where it stands now this team is going nowhere.

  3. When Laine is healthy he can be a point per game player. Aside from his mental health issues, the real risk here is if he can stay physically healthy. Other than his first two seasons in Winnipeg, he's been as injury prone as you can get. Like Beau Bennett with a higher skillset. He'd be a decent add at maybe $4M, but not at Sid's $8.7M. Columbus would have to eat half his contract to move him anywhere.

  4. Laine needs to be a Penguin..you want to make a statement for Sid..sign Laine. We have needed a pure goal scorer since Kessel left.

  5. Surprised it wasnt covered here that his contract is only two more years, sorta mitigating some risk. Also the cap number of 8.7 wasnt mentioned once. There those figures are, for anyone curious.

I wonder what Laine would get if he was a Free Agent right now. something like the Tarasenko deal?

If he'd get something like Tarasenko got, or a bit more, then i could see you getting about half of the cap space retained by CBJ and only give up a 2nd/3rd.

  6. i think there's more to his game than just being a pure finisher, but dear lord, what thing could this team need more?

Isn't the main result of the autopsy of the 2023-24 penguins that they had some good analytical traits but way underperformed the amount of goals they "Should have" scored? Well maybe it's time for a pure finisher (and let me repeat, my understanding is that he's more than just a finisher)
