I can see both of them being valued higher than the Canes FO offers, interested in finding out what the end values are after arbitration. does anyone know how long this process takes and when we will hear of the details?

Which means if they’re still w Carolina, both players will play next year on short-term (1-2 yr, max) contracts. Not sure how I feel about that, but is what it is.

Majority of the time these are figured out before the arb hearings. Be interesting to see.

If the report that necas nixed the trade to the jackets because he didn’t want an extension is legit, I almost wonder if the canes want him to go to arbitration so we get a binding deal that we can then trade. Heck, the deals are 1 to 2 years max right? They may just want that even if we keep him.
For drury, it’s part of the process. I’d hope that gets done before the actual date like many do. Hard to predict that one.

If Necas is signed to a 1 year deal (Team elects term in the negotiation) then he is a RFA at the end of the next year as well….

Necas isn’t really news, it was basically an expectation that he’d deny the qualifying offer. Drury will be a bit more interesting with his continual growing role on the team.
Hoping we hear some Jarvy news soon too 🤞

Seth Jarvis probably showed them what the canes offered him and it messed everything up

How is the arbitration gonna go in Drury’s favor? They’re just gonna give him close to league minimum.

At least this takes offer sheets off the table.

Figured this was coming and the Coghlan trade solidified that. Deals usually get done beforehand and I can see Drury signing one early but Necas may actually go all the way through arbitration. I don’t forsee the team and him coming to terms before then if they haven’t been able to work it out so far, and there’s a good chance he gets shipped out afterwards anyway. Depending on the return could be a good move for both team and player

Asking because I genuinely don’t know. What happens if two players make it to arbitration and the determination puts the team over the cap? Does the arbitrator take that into account? Does the team become responsible for clearing excess space elsewhere? How does it work?

Alright, I’ll admit my ignorance.
Can you explains what this process is and what it means?

Just keep Necas. Please? Pleeeeasaassssee? Please

Potential for a Necas offer sheet is dead. Once electing arbitration, they forfeit the ability to sign any offer sheets.
