@Oilers d'Edmonton

IDGI… What about the 2nd photo do you like so much?

I feel for the dude. Overall, it has been very quiet about anything but his performance. The dude has his wrist cut open during a game last year and played with a sports hernia most of this season + playoffs. That will mess with a lot of players, especially scorers.

He did the hockey player thing when asked by the media about being injured. He said he wasn’t, and they slandered him as a bad locker room guy, claiming he was healthy scratched. He comes out later saying he, in fact, was injured when they coach said beforehand. They get at Kane for disclosing that.

Hope the dude gets healthy and is back to show what he can do. He loses full trade protection near the mid-season trade deadline. He has time to bounce back before the Oilers front office can force a trade on their terms. Given his past, I don’t think he will ever get the benefit of the doubt most guys do. Which I find unfortunate.

Best Kane moment this season for me was at the Heritage Classic when we walloped the Flames and Kane is taunting them all.

Hate? Oilers shouldn’t hate on Kane. If he is healthy, he is still a top 6 player. Who we will need next year!

  5. spagboltoast

I love kane when hes on. When hes healthy an interested hes easily a top 5, some times top 3, forward on the team.

Whens hes off, hes replacement level. That’s my only gripe. Kane doesnt have a b-, c game. Its A or F

Don’t see him in pic Two lol what am I missin?

We will be screaming for a player like Kane come playoffs. People have short memories.

Woulda shoulda coulda but we beat the Panthers and hoist the cup with Kane in the lineup. Period.

  8. Deja_vu_288

I don’t get the hate. He is what we need in the playoffs. When he is healthy he hits and intimidates on the ice. The dude was playing very hurt this playoffs but still have it his all. It wasn’t like he was just floating out there. He’s had bad luck with injuries so here’s hoping he can be 100% healthy for the playoffs.

I would way rather keep Kane & ditch the monster Nurse contract. But that’s just me

Kane coming in had a lot of hate and a lot to prove (off ice) he came in was a stand up guy from what I’ve seen heard and played his role very well. He’s been one of my favourite oilers outside of McDrai. He can have a hot head on him sometimes but I’ll take that with all the positives he brings. A guy you hate to play against but you love him on your team.

Man I’m gonna miss those jerseys.

  12. Original-Cow-2984

Not sure there is hate for Kane. He’s not getting dealt, he’s injured.

  13. a healthy Kane would have given us a much better shot at the cup last year

  14. unclescarmeme

Realistically the online hate is just Anna Kane with a couple hundred burner accounts and some Adderall. Maybe a little bit of Mark Sphincter mixed in for good measure. No one with an undamaged brain wants Kane off the roster.

  15. People who hate Kane are just trolling, or are bots paid for by his ex-wife. No hockey person is thinking anything he is doing on the ice is bad.

  16. tapewar

Crazy, piping hot take, i know ill get downvoted to oblivion, BUT…
With the additions of Arvi and Skinner, id say RNH is more replacable then a HEALTHY Kane. But, Kane prob aint ever gonna be the same xd.

  17. fakeairpods

    I love Evander Kane #91 #kaneforever

  18. I don’t see hate. I see a use of over $5M in cap space that could be used in a more effective way. Maybe that’s because he’s hurt but we need use out of all our cap space. So maybe he’s the odd man out. Doesn’t seem to be happening with the move today. But we’re still over the cap with two RFA’s. I could see Kane not starting the year on time though so maybe that is the plan to make up the few million we need. But I don’t want him gone, just need to get value from the cash.

Unfortunatley Kane and nurse. Get an unbalanced amount of hate becuase we live in alberta and the red necks can’t look past the skin colour. Not all hate is based on this but some is

  20. chezmo39

Let’s not have short memories, he has done a lot for this organization. I will take a healthy Kane that will patrol the ice for every player on this team.

  21. PreemoisGOAT

Kane battled hard in the playoffs through pain never sat down on the bench for instance, so much that he had to get shutdown hopefully he back we need his sandpaper and skill still in the top 9 just hopefully he happier with his linemates this year

  22. fans are fickle. even just stringing a few good shifts in a row, or dominating a period, which Kane has done in the past, he knows how to win, knows what it takes… suddenly all the media is pro Kane. bottom line is , hes great to give of himself to the community in edmonton. he likes being an Oiler he is competitive and is driven to win and he knows he needs to fight for a top spot in the roster. so —- true, its a different story when injured, this is a real predicament when you are a high level professional athlete. needless to say, you have to be at your best to compete and at your optimum especially in hockey. the team and franchise know that he is an asset, and doing the right thing , as much as they can do to protect his health and get him strong and at NHL level. he is elite when hes ready

  23. As far as Edmonton fans go, anytime you have a down season or two it draws criticism. I remember people were very unhappy with Nuge a couple years ago and once he was actually fully healthy we saw him improve so much. Hoping that happens with Kane too.

As for outsiders, when you play the style of game Kane does it comes with immediate hate. Throw in some off ice shenanigans and people are just waiting for him to fail again I guess.

  24. Flashy_Chemist154

It seems like Kane had a troubled past , but it’s been quiet here , I’m hoping he’s got it all figured out . I like him and want him to stay.

  25. MassyMoney9

Kane is an absolute beauty. He brought swagger to the team which was needed. I think far more people like and appreciate him than those who hate on him. If Kane was healthy in the finals he would have made a diffy.
