  1. Forever and always for real canucks fans it will be FUCK MESSIER and FUCK MIKE KEENAN TOO. Absoulute joke that that poor excuse of a human being has a leadership award named after him.

An absoulute homer berta boy and a mr noodle from sesame street lookin'ass east coast homer given the reigns to the only BC franchise and they absoulutely tank it, IT WAS AN INSIDE JOB! (Jk about this part but still FUCK EM)

  2. Mark Messier had a positive impact on a young Markus Naslund who would later become a Canucks captain and a top player in the NHL.

  3. messier came in with an overall disdain for the canucks and a toxic attitude. a real dark period in which Linden was mistreated and Keenan shit all over the franchise. we Canucks fan dont look back kindly on this period and hate Messier for the disrespect he showed the whole club and fanbase

  4. man this is more about how fans blamed the player for the orgs incompetence. its kina funny. these days almost all of these moves would definitely be avoided. like if 80s oilers weren't allergic to success they wouldnt have scattered their dynasty to the four winds. and Vancouver still found a way to fumble handeling those 2 in a worse way. fans are unfair and all that but we accept that cause we love our teams. we just should remember the orgs did alot of the work making these disaster stories.

  5. He wasn’t even that bad. Vancouver fans blow this way outta proportion 😂

  6. That 3 bedroom condo was for him and Glenn Anderson to have gay orgies in. Hes a Pdiddy type, a pole smoker so to speak. Fuck that guy

  7. One of my favourite players. Didn`t know his father played in the UK. So does that make him the most famous name in UK hockey. I`d say no…… Wayne Gretzkys brother Keith, also played here 👍😁

  8. Pinning your hopes and dreams onto a 36 year old center with that many miles on him… probably not a good idea.

  9. I've been a Canuck fan since they entered the NHL in the 1970s. As such, hated Messier when he played for Edmonton, yet, was a fan of his when he played for Vancouver. That the organization agreed to pay him that kind of money seemed foolish, still, not his "bad", blame the organization's decision-makers. Not losing Pat Quinn & bringing in Keenan were monumental blunders of that time, as well.

  10. Screw Messier. He cared zero about Vancouver. Was a great player but absolutely cashed out with the Canucks. Got his cups, then got his money and checked out. Headed the franchise in some of its worst years, all on his bed of money and lackluster play. Numerous incidents only contributed to the image he had this nasty, arrogant personality. Only person I recall actually said anything nice about him was Näslund.

  11. All time great player. NOT the all time greatest captain. His behavior in Vancouver plus the fact his teams failed to make the playoffs in each of his final 7 seasons both disqualify him for that honor. Greatest captain debate should involve Yzerman, Beliveau, and a few others. To Canucks fans: sorry you had to go through those 3 years.

  12. It was actually 1989 when the Flames beat the Oliers. Montreal won the Cup in 1986.

  13. He was an Oiler and NY Ranger at heart. He was never a Canuck and it shows. To take the captaincy from Linden, a true Canuck was a travesty! The GM who made this move, had screws loose in his brains. We traded our 1st rounders and future for this fake Canuck. We basically screwed ourselves doing that. He had no fire in a Canuck jersey, only $$$ in his eyesight. No wonder nobody likes him!

  14. Over-rated as a leader. You mentioned his stats "werent bad" for a guy his age in Vancouver…but they were the WORST STATS of his NHL after his rookie season….AND he scored more points in his first year back with the Rangers than in any of his three years in Vancouver. Came to Van for the paycheck and then returned to the Rangers for a 4 year retirement party.
