Un aperçu des changements et des lignes potentielles des Canucks pour la saison prochaine

Je pense qu’ils seront toujours une équipe des séries éliminatoires en 2025, mais ils ont besoin d’un ou deux autres défenseurs. 1. Don't give too much credit to Allvin and Rutherford. They inherited a Pettersson, Hughes, Miller, Demko, Boeser, and depth players like Garland, Hoglander, and Silovs. Much easier to build a team when you start with an all-star core, unlike the mess that Gillis left. Context, people, context.

  2. This franchise has never been consistent, i wouldn't be surprised if they dont do as well as last year.

  3. I feel good about this team but the team went through bad burnout by the playoffs. If they don't make the finals, it's ok. There is always room to grow.

  4. Good enough to win their share in the regular season.
Mgmt will bring in a RHD for the second pairing when available.

  5. Heinen Miller Boeser
    Debrusk Pettersson Garland
    Joshua Suter Hoglander
    Sherwood Blueger Podkolzin

    Hughes Hronek
    Soucey Myers
    Forbort Schultz

    Demko
    Silovs

  6. Defence core is this team's weakness for sure. Would love to see some of our prospects make the opening night roster like Lekkerimaki and Pettersson.

  7. Yep. All i have to say is i was completely wrong about JT. Miller. I thought his points would drop, thought his attitude would get worse, and thought he wasn't worth that new contract.

  8. Shannon, Alvin is such a relief after Benning (Mr. I Really Like this Guy, he was so good five years ago, I'll pay twice his current value) He is not trying to trick other teams. He is making common sense trades that work for the Canucks. Healthy Demko, healthy Soucy, Myers steps up a little bit based on solid coaching, and we could be a contender. I am so happy with the Joshua deal.

  9. Hoglander is the dark
Hourse this coming up season 20-25 . This is his season to make or break. My fav player on the ice. Always committed & ferocious on the fore check

  10. Good off season moves in general. Of course it would be nice to have Lindholm and Zadorov, when they did so well in the play offs, but no way for the contracts they got. Matching those contracts would have been a disaster.

When the Canucks signed EP40 for eight years, they were pretty much set and should aim for the cup some years away when 11M will look cap friendly for a player of his caliber. So as long as they don’t screw up with some long term risky/bad signings, the upcomming years look very nice for a fan of the team.

  11. I look at our ability to develop goalies and then be able to trade them for great returns. Could Silovs become a $5 million per year goalie under a $1 million contract?
    I think so.

  12. If this team can get 1 more solid defenseman without giving much up, they are going to be a problem. Forward lines are better than last years at any point.

  13. I 100% agree with you about not getting Genzel I also didn't want them and think it's a good idea. We got debrusk instead. I have absolutely nothing against him as a player. I think he's a great player, but given the Canucks needs and the fact that the Canucks did need two top six forwards putting nine mil and one guy just doesn't make sense. I'd rather have Jake + somebody else. Having too much money in our top three forwards our makes us too easy to shut down. I don't want to become another Toronto

  14. A very objective view as per usual; great synopsis.

I'm actually a fan of the Barrie train, let's just keep throwing darts after an overachieving season!

  15. huge fan of the forward group. but it's left a small hole in our defence. That means hronek and Hughes need to step it up this season if we don't find the man we need. Losing Zadorov is a moderate blow to our defence. but if we can increase the attack and rely on Demko as we have in the past then I think we'll still be in good shape.

  16. I think the moves they made were as good as they were going to get. I’m more impressed with their resistance to overpaying Guentzel or an equivalent.

  17. I think Suter could be moved for a bigger more physical player that is better at faceoffs.
Losing Lindholm and his dominant faceoff numbers is a hole they need to fill.

  18. Decently excited with who the Canucks were able to grab in free agency. I think this will be a bit of a step back year compared to the overachievement of last year. But I think the Canucks will be a better playoff team.

  19. Everything went right last year during the first half of the season and then fell off a lot and they were lucky to get past Nashville. A playoff team for sure but not competing for the division title.

  20. I think Allvin will wait to see what they have in training camp, and if anyone will step up for tha right hand second pairing. If not, he'll probably trade for someone in October. Loving the depth this year though

  21. Would like Soucy to be a 3rd line pairing on D. Would also like Joshua to be on the 3rd.

Two top 4 players ain’t happening though.

  22. i think the team is overall better up front and slightly worse on the backend (prior to the zadorov trade) and i could easily see the canucks being top of the division early on. I do think theyll wait till january to trade for that top 4 puck mover. I am curious if Lekkeremaki can make the roster in camp. BUT i dont expect it and i dont think thats a bad thing. Allvin also may not want to give up assets and instead wait for Willander to come up next season. Could be a step back year to really go for it next season.

  23. Feel goaltending will be a serious question mark for the Canucks post Demko health challenges as well as speed on the defense lines. Would like to hear your comments contrasting Canucks with the newly boosted Nashville team.

  24. I love the Canucks, but I think the changes are going to take them a step backwards. Their forward lines were building a lot of chemistry in that playoff run, and I think the blue line looks worse now than it did less than 2 months ago. I think the changes will hinder them from building on last year. Hopefully I’m wrong, but I think it’ll take a couple years of building a better depth chart and better blue line before they become real contenders.

  25. I think the defense is fine if Hronek can move to the 2nd pairing and Deharnais can be Luke Schenn or Tanev with Hughes on the 1st pairing. This allows Myers to slot into the 3rd and Hronek to move the puck more often. I didn't like that they turned him into a DFD when he is clearly a TWD.

  26. Hey THG, I know I am going off topic here, but can you do a video regarding the report of Bauer and CCM looking to sell? (Not sure if there's others).

As much as I would like to be optimistic or cautiously optimistic with Vancouver, I'm concerned where hockey is heading as a whole based on these reports.

And yes, it's too early to say this or that, but there's a lot of what if…..

  27. Honestly if you’re looking for the hardest working player who never plays half assed then that’s Connor garland.

  28. Definitely taking a step back this year. They won't have a 105 PDO heater for the first thalf of the season

  29. 0:49 Everyone in the know is saying DeBrusk is a true Tocchet player. I'm excited for that reason.

1:03 Given how Petts STARTED the season, that injury had to be more nagging than he let on. And I'm ok with that, because it shows he doesn't play it up and he doesn't openly make excuses.

1:50 In the spirit of Rutherford (paraphrasing), if everything goes right, these two will have success this season. They're building on something special.

2:04 I don't care what people say about Benning. I know he was terrible with sh!t contracts and some pretty forgettable trades, but that Miller trade is ONE of the best in Canucks history. Not THE best, but among the best.

3:31 Given that he wears 53, there were times last season where he actually looked like Horvat with his finish in front of the net. It was so weird… He has skill. He's quietly quite the complete package for what he's hired to do.

4:21 I watched Bains play here in Red Deer. He looked like a man among boys when he was on the ice. I think he just needs a bit more time to develop and adjust to dominate more in the AHL, and he's pretty close to that point now. I guess September will paint a better picture.

7:59 More importantly, unlike the Benning era, Allvin has a whole team of specific subordinates who work together to help guide his decisions. That's why we're no longer seeing a lot of bad contracts. There have been some risky trades, but I understand what they're doing in those situations. It's a dynamic situation and sometimes you have to take those risks. The turnaround from the Green/Benning era has been stunning to say the least.

10:00 Here's why I'm excited: They made sure they remained BIG on their D-core size (we can ignore Hugs' height, as he's almost impossible to chase when he has the puck). They signed a cap-friendly top six player who is perfect for Toccs to coach. They signed a top 9 winger who still has growing to do, but has been pretty good so far. They signed a bottom six physical player that Hugs himself was excited to no longer have to play against. They didn't put all their eggs in one basket the way past GMs would do. Now, we just have to see how this revamped lineup gels. Argue and disagree all you want, but this is a solid lineup.
