I understand sid want to be penguins but I don’t want sid suffer if we miss playoffs if he keep playing good like always like dude is really competitive
That Caps re-tool isn't going to accomplish anything other than holding them in the mushy middle for the remainder of the 2020's.
Sid shouldn't sign a contract with the Pens this summer. 87 should get traded for a ransom at the deadline. Trade Crosby to the Oilers for Philip Broberg, Dylan Holloway, and Sam O'Reilly (or a 1st or Savoie). That would restock the Pens organization with 3 pieces. 87 and 97 could win the Cup together in Canada adding to 87's legacy. 87 should then sign 1 year deals with the Pens as a UFA for the rest of his career. 87 being dealt at the deadline yearly gives him the best chance to win the Cup and rebuilds the Pens quickly.
Would never happen, imagine Crosby signs for 870k and says, get me a winger! lol, never every gonna happen in a million years. Dude deserves whatever he asks.
SDPN is entertaining, especially for Canadian fans, and they make things accessible for newer hockey fans, but they get a LOT of information wrong. Like simple stuff like players' names and mostly anything non-Toronto. Like they said Celebrini did better than Jack Hughes in NCAA, but Jack never went to College! Lol. So everything SDPN says should be taken with a grain of salt the size of Utah. The Crosby talk is a lot of wishful thinking, and people not understanding that different players have different priorities. So, it comes down to what is most important to Sid, not what the media and podcasters or anyone else thinks.
As a 40 plus year old Canadian, don't listen to the Canadian Hockey media they're mostly full of shit
They need “defense”men, they should never think about moving Pettersson. Karlsson can’t play defense to save his life and Letang isn’t much better.
With respect, you can't say "we want to see this team win", while at the same time advocating for them to slow down the rebuild and the return to contention, by indulging in feelings like this.
Your priority is wanting to see them honor Crosby and the core at the cost of progress towards a 6th championship. Nothing wrong with that. Fans are satisfied after 3 Cups in the Crosby era and are grateful to them. It's understandable.
Prospects can be unpredictable but how much a steal would the Pens have if Murashov makes it to the NHL and becomes a good goalie? It would be the one thing Hextall struck gold on haha!
The sooner sid signs, the better it is for the rest of the fanbase and league to put these silly Canadian's takes and headlines, TO. BED. Why was it a conversation anyways? Toronto media should worry about their own team that has only one second round game win in the past forever when it comes to franchise, LEAGUE CHANGING players moving or stalling in signing extensions. Even just thinking about it gives me a headache.. lmao
Sid has more than earned whatever he wants, without question. At first Dubas was confusing me this offseason, but I think I'm starting to understand what he's doing. I think he knows this team has no shot for the next year or two, so I think right now he's just collecting as many draft picks as possible, and then a few years from now Sid is gonna be surrounded by Yager, Howe, and whoever else and hopefully make a playoff run. I think that's the goal, a 2 or 3 year rebuild.
I watch the Dangle gang too at times. I think they to some degree had a point in that if Crosby wants to have a good shot at a cup, then going to play with the Avs is that good shot. But I said it on their video and I'll say ot here. If Sid wants to stay, Sid stays. If Sid wants to go, Sid goes. This is all in his hands. Seems like it is to stay he wants, and that has been what he has signalled all along the way too.
As for having the cake and eating it, I think you sorta can. The team wasn't ass last season. By plugging the holes with some value moves, they can retool while giving Sid the chamce to will the team to the playoffs. It's going to be REALLY hard next season though. They need to fix the PP or it won't work. Now that Tarasenko chose the Wings, another top 6 winger who can scire goals is needed. Laine is worth taking a shot at. The Pens are at a spot where gambling on reclamation projects makes sense, kinda like what the Caps are doing with Dubois.
The thing i find frustrating the most is i wanted this stuff to start like 5 yrs ago. Rutherford was trading 1st rd picks & prospects for guys like Ryan Reeves, Derick Brassard & even Zucker. My brother & i talked about it at the time & were just absolutely stunned at getting such mediocre unimpactful player that somehow people were convinced could help Pittsburgh in a cup run. Those types of moves really screws up franchises for a number of yrs. There have been yrs where Pittsburgh didn’t have a draft pick in the first 2 or 3 rounds.
I understand the rules of expansion draft but to lose Fleury and mot get anything from him kind of hurt too. Which is why i really thought they should’ve tried moving either 58 or 71. Yes i understand mo move clauses but it can still be done.
Now they decide to do this soft rebuild or whatever & have squandered the last several yrs of 58, 71 & 87. It is absolutely baffling to me.
Too bad I was hoping he would come to the Leafs
I completely envy Tampa and Vegas for their activity against the boring, conservative NHL, keeping their roster in prime age, and not getting sentimental about the past. Also nobody ever built a winning roster on UFAs, its a bad idea and a sure way to continue to have older players on inflated contracts.
