That’s the real reason we didn’t re-acquire Patrick Kane or Vladimir Tarasenko. To be fair, we would’ve gotten Reilly Smith, regardless of whether or not we got Kane or Tarasenko.
He can’t be on the team on opening night the ship has sailed. It’s a locker room disaster waiting to happen. This team is close can’t let this start a fire that potentially blows up this cores last few years of the window being open.

I really like Trouba, and with the complete lack of any kind of physical play from the rest of the team, getting rid of anyone who does play physically is gonna hurt, REAL bad. Having said that, it really put it into perspective for me when I learned that Trouba’s $8 mil cap hit is the same as Jack Hughes and Sidney Crosby. Let that sink in. Love Trouba and what he brings to the team, but the dude is NOT a Hughes or Crosby caliber player, and has NO reason to be hitting the team’s cap that hard.
The rest of the league knows this narrative of Trouba " being such an awful defensively " and the scapegoating for this team's post season failures: is complete horseshit cr##.
His contract is the springboard excuse for demonizing Trouba.

Too many " Star " forwards who simply couldn't get their game up to par, in all zones of the ice; especially lazily gliding back into their own zone, and not picking up their man, at most crucial moments in the series.

And poor Igor…getting peppered and hammered every night, gave up some really soft, bad goals.
