1. Kyle dubas was a garbage gm. And keefe isn’t Berube. The leafs aren’t running it back, they are a different originization

  2. A lot of Leafs fans were on the Marner out train after the Panthers series last year. If Marner stays, don't be surprised if they have another first or second round exit against Boston, Tampa, or Florida. I think Mitch would work better if he had prime Crosby with him, who gets into the dirty areas of the ice constantly (and a great passer as well), but Matthews doesn't do that. If Marner thinks the pressure on him has been great, wait until he performs poorly in the playoffs making 12.5 or 13 mil per year.

  3. So, to summarize, we've been a few years too late with acting upon moving any players to better our team. We do everything late…like addressing our RHD position. This team is very frustrating.

  4. I imgine the other teams answering, "So you are forced to trade Marner huh. I am certainly not going to pay market price for a player you are forced to sell."

  5. I guess all the rumors and speculation you guys reported since the playoffs ended were full of shot. Great jobs guys. Lol

  6. Also, Dubas gets a lot of slack for those contracts, but remember: they were signed before lockdown. If there was no lockdown, the cap would have been 90+ million two years ago. Also, even with those big contracts, the Leafs still had a good enough team to beat the Habs in 2021, but they didn't, mostly because Matthews and Marner underperformed. They probably beat Boston in April if Marner and Tavares showed up. Edmonton made the conference final two years ago and they didn't have an incredibly deep team, but McDavid and Draisaitl were monsters.

  7. MLSE does not care if they win or lose! As long as the rinks are full and they pull in billions in revenue nothing meaningful will change

  8. the fact that steve dangle is so successful, tells you everything you need to know about how bigly toronto sucks.

  9. I'm looking forward to Urinating Tree's 2025 'Congratulations Leafs' video. I'm sure Steve will continue to provide him with stellar video clips.

  10. Toronto keeping the useless four is like hitting your self with a hammer for a head ache and say ut works

  11. I'm not in agreement here. You're not running it back when you've acquired some new 'D', a new coach, and are seeing some of your younger guys like Knies hitting their stride.

You take Marner out, and all of a sudden, who is feeding 34? Also, trading Marner in this market would entail retaining salary, and people have to remember that Tavares is at the tail end of his contract…his cap hit will soon be a lot less and the cap has risen.

The coaching change and fact we're almostt three months away with time to tweak, means that we could be looking at a different animal in October.

I liked Keefe, but he was being manipulated by players, agents, and a management that put players ahead of the team. Berube will not stand for that.

To me, it is a new core four, with 16, 88, 34, and Knies, and that much skill is too important to start selling off by the pound. Second year for Treliving where he is in charge, first year for Berube…I think the Leafs will be different, playing soft will not be allowed.

  12. What has me worried is …many years down the road i hope this won't affect the leafs erecting a statue is his honour.

  13. This isn't a topic that's pushed enough but we need another team in Toronto! This will finally give the Leafs enough motive to actually formulate a real team.

  14. Notice how the 3 jersey numbers of the screen shot on the top 3 guys all add up to 7? 88,16,34

  15. Again I cite the Sharks and how long they stuck to their core. Even after stripping the C from 2 of them. Then a coaching change ( sound familiar?) And a cup run. GLG!

  16. 13:44 That’s why I’m glad Kuch got his 100th assist. Can you imagine being on the cusp of a big milestone and not getting it on the last day of the season? That would suck!

  17. The Leafs have taken every action that they (reasonably) can this offseason to improve their team, other than move Marner. Berube is a very different coach than Keefe, and before they cut bait, the Leafs need to see how Marner performs under Berube, with all new systems, lines, etc. At no time did I think that "everything is on the table" means it has to happen RIGHT NOW. If Marner is moved, it will at or as the trade deadline approaches. I don't understand why this is so hard to understand.

  18. Everyone thinks the Leafs need a third line centre. They won't get one until the trade deadline, when a contender desperately in need of an effective penalty killer takes Kampf off their hands. Leafs will free up $2.4mil to go get their centre.

  19. They're not. What you're looking at is the end of the John Tavares-Mitch Marner era for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both guys are getting contracts from teams not in Toronto, and it's the process of moving on when these have been your two leaders for the past 5 years. At some point I would expect a soft regime change, whether it's removing John of his captaincy and/or a trade as he considers his next phase of his career. Whether it's giving new Leaf Chris Tanev a letter while taking some pressure off of Mitch Marner to allow him to also process and consider his next move.

The situation is different than in years past. Matthews and Nylander re-signed in the offseason, I expect Marner and Tavares will be transitioning into new homes. The Leafs also have a new coach and a new GM. You're starting to see the writing on the wall.

  20. I ask myself the samething every year since they aquired John Tavares. This PILON isnt worth a league minimum and a huge draft bust. Has not won or lead a team ever. Has no work ethic at all. The only 3 players you dont touch is Matthews unless the trade involves McDavid and the other two are Domi and Marner. Every team ever needs heart and these two have it in abundance everyone else should be gone. P.s. the premise of the 1st question about Marner is all wrong from the jump. 1st Marner is a playoff leading scorer so stop lying. 2nd leafs have never been into late playoffs so the whole team has under performed except Marner. And whats even more sad is you guys get paid to host this podcast and gaslight fans into believing you, when its clear just like people had Trump Derangement Syndrome YOU GUYS GOT MARNER DERANGEMENT SYNDROM. Lastly Chris Johnston says something and it all needs to be fact checked cause all he does is LIE.

  21. Stop saying run it back, not firing Keefe was running it back, a new coach is a big deal, it’s a playoff team, Toronto media is insane

  22. I’m starting to think SDPN is upset they’re running it back. This is only the 5th or 6th discussion they’ve had about it.

  23. Lou Lamoriello should have been GM at the 2015 draft. He would have selected Hanifin. Lou would not have signed JT when the Leafs had the offense but needed help defensively. Dubas giving away Seth Jarvis pcik, Durzi, Rodrigues, etc to win NOW (2019) was a huge mistake and Shanahan and the MLSE board let it happen. Fire them all. When MLSE says the cup is their major goal, looking back at their past track record, I think not.
