Dude if this was 2015 we’d have the best left side D core in the league.

  2. the_dayman623

Why tho. We already have too many defensemen. Unless this signals a trade is coming

  3. Internal-Ad-9401

    There’s gatta be a trade coming right?…… right??👀

  4. brownnotbraun

For those asking why, the deal is barely above league minimum

  5. Uh, signing 40 year old (during next season) Ryan Suter was not on my bingo card.

  6. lol first instinct is to hate this, but we’ll see how it goes. It just feels really crowded there.

  7. Why? We lost Scandella, started to have room on D, and now don’t again?

  8. LFG! He will be a great partner for Faulk. Absolutely LOVE this move. I was scared shitless with another year of Faulk paired with another offensive type dman like POJ, Perunovich or Krug

  9. I think we’re officially tanking next season. Only way to explain signing this traffic cone

This is an extremely low risk, low cost move that provides good insurance in the top 4 for if/when the Blues are able to move a contract. And if not, he’s easily flipped for a pick at deadline. Hell, he’s probably traded for a pick at deadline regardless. Anyone upset with this move is under the delusion that this team is going to make the playoffs.

Very confused by this. Has to be another move with someone moving out. Right?

Isn’t he kinda notorious for being a bad teammate? I could absolutely be wrong here

  13. puck1nar0und

Never mind if he sucks, he’s probably not good for any locker room outside of beer league.

Can someone please explain this to me. A 40 year old defenseman

Mentor for P’vich and Kessel I guess? I mean if we’re going to sign these old players, why not add a T to the last name and sign Brian Sutter?

  16. Stars fan hopping in here. Happy to see Suter land somewhere. Most people are laughing/dismissive of this signing, but I watched all but one Stars game last season. Suter is still solid, especially for his age. His first year in Dallas was rough, but properly utilized, he is just fine.

Due to his past in Minny and nsh, and the opinions of him, he was someone that many Stars fans, unfortunately and unfairly, blamed for everything even when it wasn’t his fault. Generally he is good positionally and makes solid and safe decisions. His lack of foot speed, and occasional brain fart will cost him at times. Pk’s well and keeps good gaps. Plays with a bit of nasty still (also a decent amount of veiled holding/interference that he gets away). Seems to be best utilized in bottom pair role, but was fine playing top 4 minutes when needed. Had a very good first two rounds of the playoffs, but ran out of steam in the WCF it seemed. (Probably didn’t help that Dallas played w 5 d for nearly the entirety of the playoffs)

From every report out of the Stars locker room, he was loved by other players and a good mentor for Thomas Harley and other young players.

Hated to see him bought out, only to whiff on Tanev and overpay three worse dmen in Dumba/Ilya/nils lundkvist.

Dont expect him to be a game-changer, but he should still be solid, with an occasional blunder. Great with the fans too. Will actually likely be purchasing my only non-Stars jersey because of this lol

We keep signing these relics and we will never see the kids play.

  18. Sad_Village9043

Play a prospect we aren’t winning for 2-3 more years.

  19. gabriel197600

If I recall he was a pretty nasty player to play against, if nothing else we could very much use some of that again!!

  20. I was worried because he’s so old, but I was surprised to see he’s played in every regular season game the past 3 years
