    Unprotected Habs first? Naw.

First from the Monohab trade? Sure.

Probably McGroarty and Ehlers. Otherwise Chevy would have jumped all over it.

If Chevy hasn’t already pulled the trigger on this what is he even doing? Worth it for uniting the Barron Bros alone. 😎

Classic habs. Offering all their young prospects that haven’t panned out. It’s like a younger version of always offering Anderson and Dvorak in every trade.

    Reddit-esque trade offer

Is Mesar not a highly touted prospect? I just happen to know his name. So by the rule of « I don’t follow anything not about the Jets » the fact that I know his name must mean there was some hype about him. Has he not panned out?

Chevy rarely gets fleeced. Goodluck with that offer.

Habs fan here to give some context on the pieces:

    – Mesar is an offensive prospect who’s value seems to have dropped a bit since he was drafted. He should’ve dominated the OHL more, and in an interview, he kinda blamed his teammate for not finishing his play (which doesn’t look too good character-wise). I would say he is still worth a high-to-mid 2nd rnd pick value-wise.

    – The 1st is most likely the one we got with Monahan. It’s Calgary 1st but heavily protected, and will most likely end up being Florida’s 1st. If Calgary’s pick is top-10, we receive Florida’s 1st. Best case scenario is the 2 teams finish with a top-10 pick OR Calgary finish with the 11th overall.

    – Barron and Harris are bottom pairing at this point, but with some potential to end up as second pairing. Barron value is the hope he reach his potential since he’s still young and D take more time to grow, but time is ticking and he wasn’t able to earn his spot last year (even if the team needed a RHD). I think that Harris is very underrated. Very good silent leadership, he’s smart on the ice, but not very big. I think he could easily end up being a good #4. A kind of Vlasic-lite.

Basically, it’s like a 1st (with a low potential to be in the 10s, but more likely to be between 20 to 32) + 2x2nd.

Edit: I wouldn’t do it if I was Winnipeg. It really sound more like quantity over quality with 3 long shots VS a very good prospect.

MTL makes no sense as a trade partner for us

only assets that we’d be interested in, they wouldn’t trade, they are futures heavy and we’re competitive right now

With the NHL going more for size, trading for Mesar…a 5-foot-10, 174 pound player…is not going to help the Jets bolster their lineup.

Though the thought of having Justin Barron play on the Jets and with his older brother is something we could make a play for if the price is right. Justin Barron is currently and unsigned RFA. I say we attempt to make an offer sheet for him. If we offer a contract for $1,000,000 we would not need to offer compensation if Montreal does not match.
