@Maple Leafs de Toronto

It kinda sucks that the trade narrative and outside noise has gotten so big that the guy can’t even do normal interviews with the media to promote his charity foundation.

  2. disgruntleddave

Makes sense. It’s a charity event, focus on the charity.

  3. Nylanderthals

Love that he turns off the comments on Instagram

  4. Guilty-Mycologist-75

Isn’t that the guy tyson called a piece of cit?

  5. lets_kill_time

Sensitive Marner wants to enjoy his tax shelter event.

This thread is up for 30 minutes and there are already at least 6-7 comments that encapsulate exactly why they made that request. Too many people can’t separate the player from the person. There is a time and place for everything. If you think harassing him about his contract at a charity fundraiser is okay, you need to go touch grass.

It’s not different. It’s the same as every time he does this event. I remember the year Campbell went to Edmonton, Marner was asked about it and his response was to look over at his PR rep and say: « I thought we were only supposed to talk about thr charity. »

There is nothing different about this year.

Small mental guy is small mental guy still, more news at 6

  9. shanster925

Well, there are your July and August talking points, pundits.

  10. FunkyLobster1828

So, Mitch, are you going to keep your charity going here, or start a new one when you get traded to Las Vegas?

  11. bucajack

Man wants the focus on his charity and the work it does rather than him and his hockey team.

    r/Leafs – He’s a bitch

No wonder people hate playing here

  12. Kevin4938

Part of me can’t wait for the regular season so that the focus can return to hockey instead of whether a player will or won’t be traded or sign an extension.

But this is Toronto, so the fans will be the same year-round.

  13. Loosie_1

I mean it’s a charity event last thing he needs is media idiots asking about his future with the Leafs and if he’s considered waive his NMC.

  14. CMDRShepardN7

Even the last time he did it, while Leafs questions weren’t banned, he was annoyed with them. All his answers were basically about how the focus of the day is the charity. He’s not hosting this to answer Leafs questions.

So he’s clearly not going to answer them this time anyway whether they’re asked or not. May as well ban them to save everyone’s time.

And if you want him to waive, that’s fine. I would like it if he waive too. But there’s no need for all the daily hate. We’re all grown-ups. We should learn to accept that things won’t always go to the direction you want. Criticize their play if you wish. And if it’s such a big issue to your life, stop going to games, stop watching games, do whatever with your personal property.

Leafs players are not our personal venting avenues. Nothing you do on their socials would have any positive impact for the team.

  15. No leafs or charity questions on his Instagram, you should know better.

  16. Wokonthewildside

Makes sense, what moron would ask leafs questions

  17. Fizz117

A lot of comments in this thread reminding me why I’m glad he didn’t waive his ntc. We get what we deserve Leafs fans.

  18. Flatoftheblade

LOL this subreddit has the worst users. I knew this comment section would be a shitshow.

  19. baylaust

Marner: Let’s focus on this charity event instead of any pointless speculation about the team.

    Reddit: Fuck you.

  20. Spacepickle89

That’s how it should be. Let the man focus on the charity not his hockey life

  21. UnflushableNug

That makes sense. Why would he want to distract from the charity event?

  22. mdanilow

Just to keep my hopes up, I’ve been thinking that Tre was waiting for this event to pass before making the trade. Far fetched, I know 😔

  23. That interviewer seems like a real rat piece of shit.

  24. ertdubs

The Leafs media loves to pick a scapegoat and just run them out of town.

  25. BathroomSerious1318

Should have point up in the playoffs
