This is worth discussing when it’s reported from a legitimate source and not clickbait blogspam.
Sad
I think the Preds would be completely foolish to trade him without seeing at least one 40 start season. And it’s in Askarovs best interest to have that season or two under his belt before making demands
If this is true this is bad.
It’s not a secret that Trotz has been trying to trade him for a year now.
If so then I dont think it’s doing him any favors for it to be made public, should have just told this to Trotz discreetly imo
I’m guessing he will be using the KHL as leverage
… none of that says he asked for a trade.
Why would it be a surprise? It’s pretty obvious the intention is to trade, the Saros contract pretty much guaranteed it. People on here love to say goalie 1A-1B. That’s a luxury if there wasn’t still holes in this team to fill, and askarov trade could possibly do that.
I held off sharing this as a post earlier because the source seems dubious
Per Askarov’s agent: “Askarov has the potential & should become an elite goaltender in the NHL. Recently we have been working together with the club under different scenarios. Yaroslav has proven himself that he’s an NHL player”
Basically saying “why tf did you sign Saros for another 8 years?”
Pretty clear he’s unhappy and wants out. Shouldn’t be a surprise with Trotz outright saying he’s not ready yet and the Saros extension that followed. He’s got a bit of an ego and wants to be “the guy”. Don’t blame him honestly.
