The 2024 playoffs showed that the final 2 teams, Oilers and Panthers, were also the top 2 teams in Playoffs PK percentage. Canucks were not far off at 6th. But during the regular season the Canucks were only middle of the pack. Could this be attributed to acquiring Lindholm and Zadorov during the trade deadline? How will the replacements fill the shoes of the now departed PK trio of Lindholm, Zadorov, and Cole?

I don’t recall Cole being on the PK. He was on the Oilers PP1.

I feel like coaching has a bigger effect than players on the PK. Yeo seemed to be doing a good job and I’m concerned his replacement won’t be as good.

Didn’t Di Giuseppe, Mikheyev, and Lafferty play the PK occasionally?

I’m sorry Heinen, I wasn’t aware of your game.

The problem with PK stat comparison is often the top unit will have worse stats even if they’re better quality. The more depth your team has at those roles the better everyone looks, less depth means you’re putting out your top unit in situations you’d rather not. Second unit gets to roll out after the play is already broken up, against a tired first unit or a second unit.

The additions this off-season should help greatly with the PK. The defensemen that they brought in are PK specialists. Heinen is also a borderline (if not outright) elite defensive forward. Really looking forward to seeing the improvements on the PK as we all saw how a dominant one propelled Edmonton to the Finals.
