  1. Boston Bruins 2RW Percentages for the 24-25 season:

80% Chance: Frederic or Geekie winds up as the 2RW at least to start the year

15% Chance: Fabian Lysell winds up as the 2RW

5% Chance: Sweeney trades for a real Top 6 2RW before the season starts. The trade deadline is where they'd likely make a move at 2RW for Salary Cap reasons alone. Also, at the deadline, a veteran, pending 2RW UFA could likely be had for a package that wouldn't have to include 1st round pick or a high end prospect

0% chance Georgii Merkulov makes the Bruins as either a wing or a center.

Merkulov lacks NHL size and speed, he's average defensively, at best, and you could say the same thing about his faceoff acumen. With that profile he'll never be a Top 6 center or probably even a bottom 6 center for Boston and his profile reads that he's far more likely Jack Studnika Part II (a player that lacked NHL size and speed too that can't really play in the NHL full time) than Merkulov will ultimately turn out to be a real NHL player.

If you lack NHL size and speed you have to be elite at something.

Is Merkulov elite in terms of his physicality or aggressiveness? Nope

Is Merkulov an elite faceoff guy? Nope

Is Merkulov an elite defensive guy or penalty killer? Nope

Is Merkulov an elite sniper/scorer? Nope

Is Merkulov's skill set a fit for any NHL"s team's bottom 6? Nope

Again, Georgii Merkulov is Jack Studnika Part II.

An AHL tweener that can put up points in the NHL but to lack of NHL size and speed and not really being elite in any other even one area, he's not a real NHL player. Merkulov is not winning the 2RW job and he's probably never, ever even going to be an NHL regular, at any position, for the Bruins or any other NHL team

Merkulov has never played RW and he's not an NHL center.

Who is he going to be out for the LW job in Boston? Marchand? Zacha? Nope.

His skill set also isn't a match for their Bottom 6.

Sorry Bruins homers, Georgii Merkulov is not a real NHL player so we can stop that he's going to be the 2RW, a Top 6 center or even make the friggin team. Merkulov is Jack Studnika Part II, he'll never be a real, full time NHL player, not in Boston anyway

Most Bruins fans and homers have penciled a guy like Fabian Lysell into the lineup this year when all he's done in Providence since being drafted is lose value as both a prospect internally for Boston and externally as a potential trade asset

Lysell has struggled with consistency, injuries and his play away from the puck. To ask him to just jump in this fall and win the 2RW job is probably far too much to ask of him.

Maybe Lysell figures it all out at camp or sometime later this upcoming season. However, if Lysell fails to seize the day so to speak, I'm sorry that won't be 100% of a surprise to anyone that's been paying attention to his development curve

In the end, odds are right now that either Fredeir or Geekie winds up as the 2RW at least for the short time unless Lysell wakes up but he didn't even come to development camp and he's over in Sweden away from the team training instead of what he should be doing, which is be in Boston. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for a guy that's supposed to be doing everything he can possible to make the team this fall.

    Just saying….
