Slava Kozlov genuinely surprised me because a lot of players on these things are generally journey men. Kozlov was a long time Red Wing and Thrasher but I completely forgot he had a cup of coffee in Buffalo
Ugh. Fuck Raffi Torres. Fuck Eric Staal. Fuck Taylor Hall.

Simmonds is absolutely the wildest one no doubt.
TheDeadReagans
You missed Tim Horton.
Known as a Leaf but ended his career (and life) as a Sabre.

Mannn you gotta feel for Berglund. His agent dropped the ball hard so much on his no trade situation 😢

Being a Rochester native I weirdly primarily think of Thorburn as a Sabre

I am *aware* that Simmonds was a Sabre, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually *seen* Simmonds as a Sabre

David Legwand… to me that guy is a Pred only

It’s so weird being a fan and feel like Roloson, Torres, and Zubrus (at least for me) seemed like they played a whole lot more games than they did. Maybe Torres just came up waaaaaayyyy too often and it felt like an eternity.

Jesus Taylor hall had a long ass 37 games

Check out the windshield on Kozlov. Did he get that off a Boeing for fuck sakes?

Goalie Bob!

Patrick Berglund has to have the weirdest Buffalo Sabres story. He had a 20 team no trade clause with the blues beginning July 1 2018. He talked with his agent and made the list(which included buffalo) but his agent failed to submit it in time. He was then traded on July 1 2018 to Buffalo. He played 23 games and hated it so much he quit the NHL leaving behind a 3 year 13 million contract.

Wow Bob Essensa! To me he was always a Jet!
Edit: I just looked on wikipedia, we’ll see him again very soon it seems, and a few times

I went to the game after the Sabres acquired essensa at the deadline. I was sitting next to the Zamboni entrance. I yelled ‘bob essensa is the answer’ and didn’t realize he was standing there. He got a good chuckle out of it.

Taylor Hall has popped up in too many of these so far.

As a Sabres fan who grew up in that era, I was surprised Gilmour & Roloson had so few of games with the team.
Will always remember Kozlov as the return for Hasek.

Fuck Taylor hall

Surprised the Ovie photo in Sabres gear didn’t slip in here as a joke.

I feel like I’ve seen Taylor Hall on every one of these so far.
I straight up do not remember Rob Neidermayer being in the league until 2011

Taylor Hall and Eric Staal pulled the same act, completely mailing it in while they were in Buffalo and finally trying for their new teams after being traded. To the point, where you have to think that was their plan all along. I consider that poor professionalism.
Another candidate for this list could be Teppo Numminen. He played for the Sabres a few years at the end of his career, but I think pretty much everybody considers him a Jet/Coyote.
The_Ineffable_One
Love it. But I’d think that if a player was drafted by a team, they’re not « unusual. » There are at least three in there.
TheRealJacob16
I seem to remember Taylor Hall saying “I signed here because I want to win” after signing in Buffalo

Grant Fuhr as a Buffalo Sabre for 3 years . To me he is Mr . Edmonton Oiler.

McNabb doesn’t feel unusual at all to me, the Sabres drafted him
